“A Gem in Northumberland”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 14, 2012

This is an outstanding B&B by any standards. This is the secind time I have stayed here and their offering is first class. Christine, Geof and their staff are delightful hosts who make you feel at home. The walled gardens are to die for and are a testiment to Geoffs hard work. Breakfast is a serious occassion and I would advise visitors to pace themselves through a first class "full English". You will not find a better base for exploring Hadrian's Wall and this part of Northumberland. I hope to be back next year if I can get another slot as a volunteer at Vindolanda.

Room Tip: Never had a poor room and I have slept in three out of the nine available.

This is an outstanding B and B run by personable and gracious hosts, Christine and Geoff. The house is beautifully presented with 5 star inclusions. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. Plentiful parking within the grounds. The staff are friendly and extremely obliging. Breakfast was bountiful and delicious.

Geoff can be proud of his prize winning gardens and guests are able to picnic in the extensive grounds if they so desire.

We used Ashcroft House as a base to explore Hadrian's Wall and it was an ideal central location for the Wall attractions. Geoff's expertise in describing and recommending which parts of the Wall to visit was much appreciated. Highly recommended.

We have travel across most of Europe, the South pacific and the Caribbean, but this is by far one of the best places we have ever stayed!!!. We had the deluxe king and it was like a whole wing of the house, the bed was magnificent and the shower was better than the one in our home!
Christine and Geoff treated us like friends from the moment we got there til we stayed and talked almost an hour after checking out!The breakfast is also top notch, great black pudding,my first try at it and it was good.If you stay in the area,or even out of it ,make this your B&B,you won;t be disappointed!

Room Tip: The king size deluxe is the Taj Mahal of rooms!!!!

Christine and Geoff could not have done more to make us feel at home in their home. They have done an outstanding job to make us confortable. The rooms were Deluxe and kept at a high standard. The breakfast was another outstanding feature and a great way to start the day.

The only small criticism would be the WiFi, which only seemed to work in the Dining Room and the entry hall. It did not work in the rooms, from what I could tell.

Room Tip: If you want a bigger and nicer room, book it since it does not cost that much more. The room at the...

Greetings from Canada!
Been there and will be there April and September 2011, May and September 2012.
My hard-earned money and precious time are very well spent here. Gracious hosts and surroundings. Luxurious but never ostentatious. Warm and frienldy, but never obstructive or overbearing. Personable and homey, while utterly respectful of privacy and quiet. Lovely library for brushing up on local interests.
The compelling Walls and Forts of Hadrian's Wall are within sight! My prime attraction to Haltwhistle!
Brit refinement absolutely at its best. Wish I could afford to come even more often than twice a year.
Geoff and Christine James, rock on. May you have much success with your delightful Ashcroft Guest House for many, many years to come.
Warm regards,
Anne

Room Tip: Rainbow over distant hills at suppertime towards the west are a marvelous sight!

We found this by chance and were lucky that they had a vacancy as we had arrived without a reservation.
Ashcroft is simply outstanding and you could not ask for better hosts than Geoff and Christine.
We will certainly recommend this to all our friends and will definitely return if we are in the area

From the absolutely amazing gardens to the crystal glasses for water, high end toiletries, and well appointed rooms, Christine and Geoff have thought of every detail to make the stay absolutely first-class. I only wish I could have stayed longer!
