I chose this B&B for a one night stay with myhusband, mother-in-law and brother-in-law because of the excellent reviews it had been given on Trip Advisor and elsewhere. My husband and I stayed in a double room that was brilliant. However, there was a problem with the sink tap in the room that my brother-in-law and mother-in-law stayed which meant only a trickle of water came out (certainly not enough to wash hands or clean teeth). Unfortunately the owner's did not inform us about this when they showed us the room and we at first thought the trickle was due to low pressure. However, when it was the same the next morning, my brother-in-law told the owner's husband. He said that another guest had damaged the tap and they had been waiting for a plumber to come and fix it! WHen my husband and mother-in-law (who is almost eighty and is very particular about being able to wash, clean her teeth etc) suggested to the landlady that there should be some compensation due to the lack of washing facilities in the room, her response was to say that "....no, I don';t think so, there was water - just not much of a flow and you had had a good breakfast, so no there is nothing more to say....." (more or less implying that we had eaten more than our fair share so what else should we expect) - the fact that we had paid more than £100 for each room meant nothing to them..... I was so upset I had to walk out of the room - It completely spoiled what was otherwise a lovely stay in this B&B. I feel the way we were treated was very unprofessional, disrespectufl and uncaring - and most definitely not how a landlady of a 5* B&B should speak to paying guests!
Don't book the Rose room unless you check first that the sink has been fixed!
