“Inside the old city”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 11, 2014

This hotel is located inside the old city in an old plaza with lots of character. It is a budget hotel, but clean, very friendly staff, and free parking. It is a great place to stay for a couple of nights, our room face the courtyard and the days we were there rained, so it was quiet in the evenings. We used the bus to go to Irun and to San Sebastian from Hondarribia, however, if your destination is San Sebastian, I would stay in the city itself. This town did not have a lively night life nor we found amazing places to eat. We used this hotel and area as a home base, we did go to Pamplona (50 min away by car) and that was a great day trip.

Room Tip: Good hotel that serves as a home base to travel around.

Stayed here during a European road trip with two other adults, the room was a fair size enough space for the three of us. The hotel is situated in a beautiful square and our room overlooked the square, fantastic. The receptionist could not have been more helpful, carried some of our luggage, and even parked my car for me.There is very limited parking at the hotel, actually one space at the back of it. It is situated close to San Pedro, where most of the restaurants are situated. One word of warning is that it situated on a hill, so might be a struggle for anyone who is not too good on their feet, but there is a street elevator that takes from the street up the hill, but this is still a bit of a walk from the hotel. There are also escalators in the town centre to make it easier to look around. A great hotel in a wonderful city, the buildings look more like Swiss Alpine design rather than Spanish.

Hondarribia is a find in itself - nothing like you'd expect Spain to be like - very Alpine looking. This hotel is based in the old part but easy access to all the other parts of town - very friendly staff, there was no parking but the guy let us park in the alley at the side of the hotel - very clean, and good internet access - would recommend

Found this hotel on the internet before a trip to Hondarribia and what a great find it was! A beautiful old building on a central square on the top of the hill in the old town. Boutique hotel interior at very modest pricing. Great basecamp for sampling the wonderful food that Honarribia has to offer, great place to start a daytrip to San Sebastien (20 minute bus ride) without having to hassle with a car and parking.

Good place to stay away from bustling resort area with easy access to the whole area. Location is on the main square with lots of locals but quiet because the city is small. Good places to sample the food nearby (walking). The staff is a delight & the breakfast (served at the bar downstairs) is great. Rooms are neat, clean & has everthing for a good stay (some rooms also come with a view)

Stayed here for one night after staying at the parador. Our room looks out into a charming plaza and a good size with modern BR.The staff was very nice, checked us in earlier. The building feels medieval with spiral stone staircase and thick walls. The hotel is located inside the old city walls . Breakfast was basic .

5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 22, 2013

We stayed at Hotel Palacete for 6 days in early October, 2013. We had the room with the balcony which allowed us to sit out and watch the activity on the plaza. Our hostess as well as all the other staff were delightful, efficient, and there was never a want or need that was not fulfilled. It was fun to drink coffee or wine in the patio and enjoy others who were staying at the hotel.

This charming small hotel was exactly as I had hoped when I booked it and would definitely stay again and recommend it highly to others.
