What a place to stay, the place is like a Palace. A desperate entrance into the city walls, parking on the doorstep, complimentary drink on arrival. The decor is delightful, big bedroom with view over the bay, website, minibar, every comfort. Staff welcoming and helpful. The location is within the walls next to the church and Parador. Terrace and bar are good for winding down. Sitting room with authentic fire place. Furniture is old or reproduction, original artwork. This feels like being the king of the castle. Breakfast was cooked to order, plenty of variety.

We spent one night at Hotel Obispo and couldn't have been happier. We chose the most inexpensive room on the top floor, so had a massive skylight and small window but not the beautiful balconies of the superior rooms on the lower floors. Nonetheless, we thought it was a fantastic deal, charming room, wonderful service, and delicious included breakfast buffet (including made-to-order eggs).

We also took advantage of the free bicycles available for use, and took a lovely albeit short ride along the river and harbor out to the tip of the pier a few miles away.

Location of the hotel is superb--right in the old city although on a quiet square so not touristy at all. There's parking available in front of the hotel for free, but it was full, so we parked on a street below the old city for free and had no problems.

Hondarribia is fantastic and well worth a visit, and I'd highly recommend this charming hotel!

Hondarribia is a small town on the border with western France, with an excellent restaurant (Alameda) providing an incentive. The town is actually a charming seaside fishermen's village and an old fortified town above it. They are both worth visiting. The Obispo is a good place to overnight. Our room on the ground floor reeked of history, seemingly carved out of aged stone walls. It was a bit gloomy - but it didn't stop raining on our chosen day. A full buffet breakfast is included in the rate. There were lots of fruits and juices as well as anything else you could want, including eggs cooked to order. The staff was pleasant and helpful. There is a small ferry from Hondarribia across to Hendaye in France, from where the TGV goes to Paris.

We rented 2 rooms at Hotel Obispo and both were quite charming. The staff was extremely attentive, knowledgeable and friendly. The breakfast was amazing – we’re still talking about it!
Parking was limited, but there is public parking down the hill.

My wife and I just spend two nights at the Obisop hotel in Hondarribia. It was a great stay. The hotel sits on a square atop a small hill just adjacent to the town. The church bells chime until 10 PM then start up at 8 AM. The building dates to the 1500's and was the residence of the bishop. Our room was modern and large enough. The beds were comfy and the wi-fi worked great. The noise of the bar/restaurant below us subsided at 10 PM and led to a comfortable sleep. We have no complaints and would stay here again if in the area. We thoroughly enjoyed walking into Hondarribia for tapas and drinks each evening. Staying here was a fun part of our journey through Spain.

Room Tip: Since there are only 9 rooms I'm sure that any would work nicely.

Stayed at the Obispo late Aug in the lovely little Basque town of Hondarribia. The Obispo is situated in the old part of town, surrounded by typical Basque style houses, narrow cobbled streets and lovely plazas, where a few low key cafes/bars/restaurants offer a well deserved relax. The old town's church forms an impressive focus on the Hondarribian skyline. It is situated next to the 5* Parador.
Down the hill a 5 min walk takes you into the town itself- 3 main streets which are not long, with a few shops and lots of Pinxtos bars. The presentation of these snacks (both hot and cold) is tremendous, washed down with a glass of txakoli ( a light white wine poured from a height to get some fizz in!). There is a great vibe here and the buzz lasts all evening with an eclectic mix of people.
Hondarribia has a sizeable beach with another bigger one in Hendaye (France), reachable over the river Bidesoa by a 7 min ferry. Hondarribia is surrounded by the Pyrenees and overlooked by the impressive Mt Jaizkibel. Catching the bus to San Sebastian is easy. Take the E21 with 'AP' sign ( Autopista) displayed on the window. The bus stop is a mere trundle down the steps from the Obispo.
The Obispo is tremendous. The staff are very curteous and helpful. The rooms are spacious and breakfast is served on a delightful terrace/ courtyard. A great way to start your day! After an evening trawling the Pinxtos bars it was lovely to come back to the Obispo and relax with one of Victor's famous Mohitos, made from fresh mint of course! A Ms Olazabal deserved a special mention on the reception desk, so friendly and offered great advice. Overall a great time and would definately stay here again if ever in the region.

We had a room on the top attic floor which was very roomy and quite comfortable, although my husband who is reasonably tall kept banging his head. The window was very small. The staff were friendly and happy to provide advice on eating places both tapas and restaurants.
The breakfast was OK with limited cereal (which is not unusual in European hotels); however the eggs were freshly cooked and the juice was fresh.
The hotel was well priced considering its location and there was excellent tapas to be had not too far away. The hotel had no lift which may be an issue for some, especially for those having to carry luggage to the top floor as no help was offered by staff.
Overall I would be happy to stay there again but probably not in the attic.
