Great place to explore Alentejo region. We had already been charmed by the montada trees before we even arrived at the woodlodge, driving over the Serra de Ossa and before. The lodge has a great view of this and them in the am and eve light. We took Phillips (as has been said before) very informative safari on our penultimate day, all saints public holiday before attending the bullfight at Rondo to see the horsemanship. We found plenty to do in the area despite the heavier than usual rainfall and it being end of season- Evora, Elvas had int. aqueducts, chapels, Campo Mejor Delta coffee museum, marble museum, sat market in Estremoz etc..there is a very helpful guide in the cabin of regional towns and places of interest. Lodge well-equiped and with aircon. Intrigueing march of the milked? goats past cabin each am with chocolha's ringing. Seasonal products for sale at farm-honey,cheese etc. Day we left the Pata negra pigs arrived for their 4 month feed on specially fenced off holm oak areas of the farm. As the interest in Alentejo vineyards incl. Phillip's open up I can see this more land locked area of Pg becoming more of a tourist destination. Presently the roads are very quiet.
