“Great stay @ Voss”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 27, 2013

Had one night at Park Hotel Vossavangen while on a concert at Vossa Jazz. The hotel is very well situated, about 5 minutes tops from the train station. The hotel is quite large, and the rooms are well sized for beeing in Norway. The hotel clearly needs an "upgrade" as some areas are seriously in need of it, still its a great alternative.
The food at the restaurant was good, and the wine selection at the very top, so if you are a lover of a good wine, and can afford it, try it out!

I stayed at Voss for a week in Feb 2012. We had a "suite" that had a sitting area, dining area and bedroom/bathroom. The views were stunning from the solid panel of windows across the back side. Our room was cleaned daily and cleaned very well. If you needed something, a simple call to the front desk was all you had to do.

We had the opportunity to dine in both the "casual" restaurant and the "nicer" restaurant located in the hotel. Both had wonderful food but the "nice" restaurant was excellent. The Fish Soup here is DELICIOUS. Actually, all the food prepared by Chef Terry was excellent. There is a breakfast buffet every morning that has everything you could want.

Service at the hotel is excellent. Check in and out is quick and the staff are just wonderful. There are people working at this hotel that have been there 20+ years. That in itself tells you something. The hotel is close to other restaurants in town, the train station and any shopping.

Oh, and the wine selection here is one of the top places in all of Europe, along with excellent prices. Looking forward to next year's trip!

We spent so much money on hotels before we got to voss that we were looking for something less expensive but still nice.
The tourist booklet said that rooms at the Park were 1400 kr and up but after realizing there was only a youth hostel (bunk beds) and hotels, we tried this one.
We got a perfectly good room (without view) for 1150, and the staff was terrific. Location great. breakfast not the best, but you could still find somethng to eat. There was no hair dryer but we were given one on request. And water didn't run onto the floor from the shower/bathtub as it did almost everywhere else. Good value for money.

Room Tip: if you don't mind not having a view, you pay less. you can still walk around by the water and en...

We weren't sure where to stay in Voss, we had delayed booking our accommodation so we did not get to stay in the number one ranked hotel in Voss.  When we  first arrived in Voss we discovered that the preferred hotel was right next door to the train station, looked good from outside but looked a bit dated.

Our Hotel was about 100 meters from the station on the main road.  All the big hotels are close to each other.  From the outside it looked a bit dated and that it was a combination of two old hotels.  Once inside the foyer looked very new, the restaurant area was very period, lots of solid timber and plush furnishing.  Where we stayed was a bit dated and needed to be updated.

We were staying for a number of nights and were very glade to be given a large room with a balcony.  Coffee making facilities would have made the room more modern, however people seem to like take the kettles home with them. The view over the lake and the snow capped mountains form our room were very special and memorable.

The breakfast was ok but not as good as our previous hotel.  The price of food at restaurants in Voss were very expensive, however the Chinese restaurant in Voss is highly recommended.

Stayed here for four days. The hotel is located bang in the middle of Voss, the adventure capital. Good reception area and lobby facilities, but the room was a total let down. It was very small with the least amenities possible, though being in the heart of Norway's fjordland you hardly would stay in the room. A large balcony was the biggest plus point looking out to the lake. The bathroom had no separate shower area or bath tub and extremely dim lights. Bed was comfortable and the heater was functional. The tourist office, restaurants, supermarkets and the bars were all within a 3 min walk from the hotel. The hotel caters mostly to package deal tourists from Korea and Japan. The worst part was the loud music the entire night just outside the room making it very difficult to catch your sleep, though I do not believe that this is the case the whole year. Norway is an extremely expensive country, so this is comparatively an "affordable" hotel.

Room Tip: Lakeview rooms are the best.

Like the other travellers we were impressed by the entrance lobby and beautiful views but a little disappointed by the room itself, though it was clean, tidy and comfortable enough for our one nights stay. It is much like an English 'Premier Inn' but twice the price! The room was lacking tea/coffee facilities and a hair dryer!
The breakfast buffet was plentiful and tasty, with a selection of hot and cold food as well as continental meats and cheeses.
The staff were all very helpful to us and spoke very good English.
We chose this hotel as it is right next to Nordic Ventures so we were able not to rush up in the morning! They also allowed us to leave our car and luggage with them safely while we were out on a day trip.

The lobby area is nicely renovated but the room is small, dim and looks old. These negative points are compensated by nice lake view from the hotel room.

Breakfast & dinner buffet spread was limited and fruits are gone in few minutes. Look elsewhere if you have a choice.

There's a supermarket within 5-10mins walk in case you need to get something.
