Description: I was in Asolo last weekend and discovered that Ca' Derton is closed in the centre of town and has reopened as Locanda Baggio just on the outskirts of Asolo. Ca' Derton is the name of the house where the restaurant was located for nearly 20 years, so they had to change the name when they moved. The new restaurant is still great, and I would like to write a review.

“Excellent service and imaginative Italian food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 19, 2013

Had lunch here the other day. This family run business exudes both warmth and sophistication. We had a scallop starter, seafood pasta, pork with fennel and an orange relish finish plus a sublime chocolate dessert that was topped with a berry mousse. We chose Le Due Torri cabernet and liked it so much, we took a bottle back to the Al Morer agriturismo, where we have a two bedroom apartment within walking distance of Asolo.

“Really exceptional restaurant near Asolo”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 18, 2012

This is a truly exceptional restaurant with cooking that is both innovative and traditional. The young son of the owner will tell you where every ingredient comes from in amazing detail. The wine list is extensive (we had the same Valpolicella Ripasso as "willypau", and it was indeed amazing). And the price is quite reasonable given the quality of the food. I would not hestiate to recommend this restaurant to anyone.

“Food for Foodies”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 23, 2012

Awesome and original meals. The family is endearing and no one can beat the meals as described by Nino's son. Ask him to translate the menu. It's a performance. We returned twice when there are many good places in the area.

“great food and amazing wine list”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 10, 2012

really appreciated this food and wine experience in locanda baggio. they will surprise you with suggestions and fantastic plates made with 100% local ingredient. the waiter (young man, probably son of the owner) is a great waiter and sommelier. he suggested a bottle of ripasso tezze 2007 that was awesome. thank you very much! ps leave a little space for the dessert. they will offer you also a selection of home made biscuits.

“Unexpected, amazing”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 11, 2012

This jewel of a restaurant pops up unexpectedly on a country road behind the Asolo hills. You would never expect to find a dining experience of this magnitude in such a place. We ate on the patio outside in back, and had the most lovely dinner. The food is really really good- this coming from a crazy foodie from northern CA. The most difficult decision was narrowing it down to 2 appetizers and 2 mains from several unbelievable sounding choices. I had read good things from the reviews, but I was not prepared for food and wine of such high quality. One of the 20 best meals of my life. The waiter, son of the owner/chef, actually used the word "protagonist" in his oratory on the menu. He turned us on to a gorgeous wine from a mile-long list. I had suckling pig... to die for. If you are within an hour of this place, do yourself a favor and go. It is sooo good. The whole experience was wonderful. I hope to revisit in my lifetime. What an unexpected delight!
