My husband and I decided to visit the western part of Tuscany, and after few days of hotel searching, I found a very nice Bed and Breakfast “La Fattoria di Tatti". It is in a small village named Tatti which is located nearby historic Massa Marittima. After reading positive reviews at Trip Advisor, I made my choice.
Before I made a reservation at Fattoria, I emailed and called Maria with many questions. Maria is the manager, and I was very satisfied with her nice, pleasant, immediate and professional response.
Tatti is very small, medieval town located on a very high hill, so getting there you would need to drive up a very curvy road to the top of the hill. It is quite a challenging driving experience, but when you get there you would be rewarded with the town's scenic charm and beauty.
Maria welcomed us with a plate of local Tuscan fresh fruit and bottle of water. When she walked us to the room, we were stunned by the breathtaking view from our window. You can see Tatti’s rooftops, the church on the top, endless colorful fields, blue mountains, and far away you can see the Mediterranean sea.
The B&B is very spacious with elegant clean rooms, where you can find anything you need for your convenience. Mobile phones have good reception, and there is a computer room with good fast internet connection. Also, if you need or forgot something, just ask Maria and she would assist you right away. We forgot to bring with us an energy converter adapter, so we asked Maria if she had one and she provided us with one immediately. In fact, she gave it to us as a gift because we needed it for our continuing journey through Italy!
Mornings begin with Fabio's greetings of "buon giorno!" and his sun shining smile lights up your whole day. In the dining hall that has a splendid view, we were served with a generous homemade breakfast, fresh produce from local farms; different types of cold cuts and cheeses, bread, whole grain cereals, farm yogurt, fruit salad, chestnut honey and about 10 different types of home made delicious jams, excellent coffee and a warm peach pie that Maria baked every morning.
Maria is not only a perfect hostess with great people skills; she is also Tatti socialite. She organized a charity concert inside a small chapel where we were invited along with her friends. After this wonderful event, we were served with wine and h'orderves, also we had an opportunity to socialize with the locals... it was an unforgettable “Tatti experience.”
This part of Italy is very unique, different than most of the Tuscany, an undiscovered jewel. You can visit endless medieval towns located on high hills, farms, wineries and gorgeous beaches. Maria would provide you with all information you need to know how to get around, she will also supply you with maps, brochures etc.
Tatti stole my heart: nice, kind people, amazing natural beauty… and, of course, at "La Frattoria di Tatti", where Fabio and Maria make you feel right at home.
I would definitely come here again!
