“Beautiful B&B in the heart of Tuscany”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 12, 2013

We recently spent 3 nights at this beautiful B&B. Our hostess, Elena, was so accommodating and helpful. Our room was quite large with a sitting area and large bathroom. Our first night was rainy so all the guests gathered for a cooking lesson and dinner. It was a lot of fun meeting people from different parts of the world. Subsequently, each night we would gather and talk about our adventures that day. We had a car, and made day trips to Siena, Volterra , San Gimignano and the surrounding wine country. It was so beautiful, even at the end of March. I would love to return when the gorgeous grounds would be in their full splendor. I recommend this B&B without hesitation as it was everything I hoped it would be and more.

Heaven on Earth. My boyfriend and I were referred by friends to stay at the Borgo Argenina while staying in Tuscany. We had planned a ten day trip to Italy working our way from Venice to Rome moving hotels/bed & breakfast locations every two nights to make the most out of our trip. When we finally arrive at Borgo Argenina we knew we had to change our plans and stay for 2 additional nights. Luckily Elena was able to accommodate and we filled our days discovering the ancient towns, doing wine tours and tastings, walking through the vineyards and enjoying the most incredible cuisine you could imagine. Elena essentially designed our day trips for us with endless recommendations on what we needed to see and do which was nice not to have to plan for a change -- not to mention each recommendation was exactly what we were looking for. On the last night we took Elena's cooking class which couldn't have been more fun mingling and drinking wine with the other vacationers. Our only regret was not spending more time at the Borgo -- next time we are booking a week in Tuscany alone! I couldn't hold this Bed & Breakfast or Elena in higher regard and I'd recommend a stay here to anyone!

It's really hard to describe an experience so genuine and authentic. This IS the real Tuscany from the late 900's completely restored Barons Mansion to Elena the owner whose greatest desire seems to be in keeping everything possible as it was back in the days this was built. It's in the heart of Tuscany and the perfect place to springboard to nearly all of Tuscany. You could NOT go wrong staying here. She has rooms in the main building PLUS she has villas that would accommodate large families. The view is INCREDIBLE, this is Perfection Tuscany Style!

Room Tip: Trust me, she say's :JUST COME" to which I would say the exact same thing! We LOVE this pla...

I am really not a B&B fan, partly after a creepy, almost "Friday the 13th"-like experience in Connecticut many years ago, but this one is different. It is entirely different.
When you finally get there, and it really is hidden like a treasure, at the end of a gravel road where you would not expect it (or any thing else), you find a very smartly and tastefully restored country house with a few cottages besides the main building that has the double rooms, the breakfast room, the living room and the upstairs kitchen, where the cooking and gathering takes place.
After checking in, Elena will give you an introduction to the house, the kitchen, the customs, the area, herself and many more things that are interesting and charming and great to listen to.
The rooms are simple, but, like I said before, very cleverly built and with a distinct style. Everything fits together, every part, from the switches to the faucets to the furniture, is carefully chosen to make for a genuine but still plush feel.
The whole experience is well choreographed in every way, from the interior to the servant´s clothes, the breakfast table, all the way to the kitchen and the cooking classes.
I was there in October 2012, and besides myself, all other guests were from the U.S.; the place seems popular with americans, to some extent because of the ratings on Tripadvisor and similar platforms, which Elena encourages all guests to contribute to if they liked their stay.
What I love about the Borgo Argenina is that it is a B&B, but not just with that B&B feel that I do not like but almost hotel - like amenities like the chance to keep yourself some privacy; although everything is iwithin a small area, you can easily socialize but you are not forced to.
Great for a honeymoon or with someone you like to be alone with, for party go look somewhere else.
Only downside, if at all, is that if cooking does not happen, you will have to drive for dinner, but almost every one of the surrounding villages has at least one trattoria, and Siena is only a 20 minute drive away.
WiFi is available in the living room; no TV (and you won't miss it). Sunrise/sunset and the views you will not forget.

I had first read about Borgo Argenina in the comments section of an older article on Tuscany in the NYTimes. The comments there convinced us this was a special place and my husband, 21 year old son and I traveled to Chianti to stay with Elena. As it turned out we were the first guests of this season and the honor and pleasure was all ours. After flying to Florence and driving to Borgo Argenina we were tired and hungry. Instead of sending us off to a restaurant Elena exclaimed that she would make us pasta e fagioli. We sat in her wonderful kitchen by the large hearth while she whipped up a delicious traditional italian dinner with local pecorino, chianti and ollve oil. Heavenly- every bit of it. Every night after visiting the beautiful countryside and many sites we would end up in Elena's kitchen to enjoy the great conversation and chianti. Borgo Argenina is beautiful. The story of its origins as told by Elena is fascinating and though you know she has repeated it hundreds of times her passion is such that you feel as if she is sharing it for the first time. We loved our stay there and would make it our destination again if in the Tuscany area.

With so many places to stay in Tuscany, we knew we made the best choice upon our arrival at Borgo Argenina located in Gaiole in Chianti. After days of touring all over the country side, the view from her place was simply the best!! When you think Tuscany...think about staying at Borgo Argenina! The rooms are spacious, clean and beautifully decorated with an elegant yet simple Tuscan style. She leaves no details behind when accommodating her guests. The weather was chilly for March but the heavy quilted comforter on the bed kept us so cozy at night. I wanted to take the blanket home! Elena's hospitality went beyond our expectations and she made us feel right at home. She welcome's you to her private kitchen where one can experience and learn to make some fabulous Italian dinners. Sitting around the large wooden farm table in front of the wood burning open hearth, we enjoyed Elena's stories and the conversation of other travelers at the end of the day. I cannot imagine staying anywhere else! Simply delightful! We cannot wait to come back and visit again.

Beautiful countryside, incredible food, fantastic accomodations... The true shining star was Elena! She has that inate gift to make you feel at home, even if you are very far away from your own home. She is beautiful and charming plus a wonderful cook who is willing to share her secrets. There is another Borgo very close to hers. Please make sure that you deal directly with Elena Nappa. She has worked very hard to keep her good name. Visit her, I promise that you will not regret it!

Room Tip: Choose the Piccolo, a seperate "Cottage". Charming and very private
