I am a return guest at Hotel Villa La Grotta. My first trip was in 2005 to Italy where my mom and I traveled to Positano and Tuscany (like the movie Under the Tuscan Sun). I thought nothing could compare to Positano but, upon our arrival to the Villa, it was breath taking. Location, Location, Location!!! Doogie and Gigi were such gracious hosts and the staff treated us like we were family. The food and wine was unlike no other (I ate rabbit for the first time). Our room was nice and very comfortable. Walks along the paths in the hills of Tuscany is undescribable. Plus, you are a nice 20 minute walk to Castello di Brolio (wine tasting and tour of the castle was awesome). I had promised Doogie thru tears on our departure that I would come back to visit. I kept my promise. My best friend and I went to Rome, Venice, Florence and upon my request, the Villa. The drive to the Villa was beautiful and I knew I was back to the place where I had found such inner peace 5 years before. Our arrival was met with Gigi who took great care of us. We both felt like we were visiting long time friends and family. We stayed in the Suite which was beautiful and clean with views of the hills. We spent a lot of time on the patio drinking wine and catching up on our lives. The food was just like I remembered it, fresh from the garden and/or local market and prepared to perfection. Lounging pool side was also very relaxing with wine and treats just a phone call away (there is a phone by the pool where the indoor pool is that dials up to the bar!). We also took a nice hike to the castle for a tour and wine tasting (you can pick up your wine on your departure if you don't have a car which we didn't, we had a driver drop us off and pick us up). My best friend understood why I had to come back to this beautiful place that to me, is heaven on earth. I had no desire to do any sight seeing b/c to me, everything was at the Villa - good food, drink, views, and friends.
