“Great stop to see acropolis”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 8, 2012 via mobile

Giovanni and his pal Rudi(the handsome cat) stayed up quite late to welcome us. We had a very nice room with a very good bathroom. The breakfast is served on the deck that looks into the acropolis. The breakfast also had Mommas touch. Careful not to put on too many pounds. The area has some interesting sites and beaches. As well there are a couple of incredible restaurants that Giovanni will recommend. The neighbourhood gives you an opportunity to observe Italians in their daily roles. All in all we had a great visit and would recommend this place.

We stayed here for a night to visit the ruins. The B&B was 5 minutes walk from the car park at the ruins. We parked there-it's free parking- whilst we went to find the B&B. Giovanni was very friendly- we had espresso, almond biscuits and cake on the roof terrace on arrival. The views of the ruins are great from the terrace and his cat Rudy is also a frequent occupant on the terrace.

The room was clean and modern with a nice bathroom and good aircon. Giovanni has new wifi- it works well but it was not turned on all the time.

Breakfast was good- ricotta filled doughnuts and the local cheese were particular favourites and the macchiatos were good too.

Giovanni was very friendly, bubbly and helpful. He booked Boomerang for us which was good as it was turning people away as there was no space.

We woul not hesitate in returning if we were in the area.

For our first visit to Sicily, this stop was likely as close to the real Sicily as we could get. We enjoyed this b&b, particularly the lovely roof top terrace. If you stay here, try eating at the nearby Boomerang restaurant - no menu, fresh fish every day, they cook and you eat what they bring you, terrific local restaurant experience.

Terrazzo di Venere-Selinunte Sicily/ Immediate Move-in
The most elegant, thoughtfully designed and decorated B&B on the planet.
A complete accident for a one-night emergency stays as we got a holiday bump from
di Vittorio...in Porto Palo. Not one night, we stayed a week and wanted to move-in. Selinunte is a perfect location to see all of southwestern coast of Sicily and Terrazzo de Venere is the place to live la dolce vita. It is central for all day trips.
Walk to the ruins, beach or restaurants. Supermechado a few blocks for everything you need or forgot, picnic supplies and great vino. Ask for Mario. He greets visitors with a huge smile and interesting conversation.
Terrazza Veneze proprietor, master ceramic artisan, and all around great person
is Giovanni Caracci, with his trusty assistant, Ruddie-Ruddie (the cat), masterful entertainer and constant companion to all who stay. You are greeted with a “no-problem” attitude.....they both begin by providing an immediate choice of designer spotless and inviting rooms, a relax atmosphere with a refreshing drink and a sit down personal all inclusive welcome; yes Ruddie Ruddie joins too. His casa is certainly su casa. Breakfast is a feast of traditional Sicilian meats, cheeses, breads, juice, espresso type drinks and of course pastries form the best Sicilian bakers. If you’re fortunate, you may get to speek to Giovanni mama, lovely, wonderful and a wealth of local knowledge. Look no further than Giovanni Caracci and Terrazzo Venere. I want to go back and hope I can stay here. Ciao bella.

Room Tip: Every room is specially designed and it's a tough choice. Govanni gives you the choice. All roo...

Arriving in Selinunte without a definite place to stay, I set about consulting Trip Advisor while my boyfriend decided to eschew technology and despite very limited Italian ask a local for a recommendation. As we were at the time in the carpark of the Greek temple site, the Gods obviously decided to bestow their favor on us and we were directed to Giovanni Caracci's bed and breakfast. I hastily skipped to his reviews on TA and thought we might be OK. The establishment turned out to be spotlessly clean and lovingly decorated in lavish style with large and well-appointed bathrooms. Giovanni is a charming and warm host and though his English is limited his French is excellent and communication was easy. A one night stay turned into a 5 night exploration of the area as we figured why move somewhere else and regret it immediately? Selinunte is off the high volume tourist track but has an excellent sandy beach at 'La Pineta' and is close to Mazarro del Vallo and Marsala. We spent one day hiking (gently) around the massive archeological site at Selinunte

Giovanni (and Rudy) were the perfect hosts! Terrazzo di Venere was exactly what we hoped for... a welcoming atmosphere and a central location, lots of charm with a short walk to the beach and the ruins. Giovanni went out of his way to accommodate us, fixing us coffee when we got there and serving us a delicious breakfast! The large terrace has a great view of the surrounding area and the ruins. We hope to come back in May or June, and we wouldn't stay anywhere else!
