“Poor”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed April 29, 2013

We stayed at Masseria Chiancone Torricella for four nights mid-April as part of an organised tour. The masseria seemed unprepared for our arrival possibly because we were the first visitors of the season. The bedrooms were cold because everything was marble and there are no mats on the floors. The heating had to be on at all times. This is a hotel for hot summers not early spring with cold nights. The food was poor. At breakfast on the second morning tea-bags had run out, yet on our final morning they still had not been replenished. The bread was awful and hot drinks were dispensed from a machine. On the final morning there was no prepared fresh fruit as had been the case, just stewed prunes and a bowl of apples oranges and kiwis. Staff were barely visible. As to the evening meals the less said the better. There was no problem with the ingredients, it was just that the chef murdered them! Masseria Chiancone Torricella is not somewhere I would recommend to friends or family. There seemed a general disinterest in the guests, and their comfort.

my wife and i first used this hotel in 2009 and it was still having work carried out in areas not directly affecting customers it was clean, rooms nice size and staff really helpful and friendly.
we went back this year to have a meal and see how the hotel was developing and they have created a fantastic hotel with great staff and a great place to stay.the food was excellent and a fair price.more upmarket food is on the menu so not suitable for people who do not like to try something different. if you are wanting to explore this part of italy with a little bit of luxury this is the place to stay.

we found this on the internet and got a good price, so were pleased to see it was almost empty during our stay. our room was lovely, spacious with so much wardrobe space! the bathroom had ceiling window so lots of daylight pourred in. the pool was the biggest we had during the 8 days in puglia, but probably gets crowded in high season. we had breakfast as our only meal here (reasonable choice of cakes, some savoury, and fruit) The reception was very helpful and polite, the poolman also. you do need a GPS though, as impossible to find, and we did a different route each trip! the town of martina franca is about 15mins drive (lovely place) and the trulli are easy to get to so it's quite a good area to stay to discover the area.

Room Tip: some rooms have wi-fi you must advise on booking! in the reception area, also

Any place that caters to large tour groups is cleary not ment to be romantic. It offers confortable and very clean rooms, air conditioning and a wonderful pool (be careful: 2 euro for a pool towl!!! Bring your own!). Grounds are very well kept. The breakfast is very disappointing (again made for large group). Hard to find, better to have a GPS. This is the all-too-familiar beautiful old masseria with a lot of modern addictions (not in keeping with original architectural integrity). Overall we felt positive, the quietude compensate the modernity.

We stayed here for two nights in July. First of all, this hotel is in a rather remote area, and its a good advice to have your own car to get around.

When we arrived from the parking, we had problems with finding the main entrance of the hotel. No signs and doors were locked. Pretty annoying start. When we checked in, our room was not ready so the staff told us to "just wait a few minutes"...ok...we waited for almost an hour. Atleast the room was clean when we finally got it.

We found the room big and spacious. With doors to be opened out to a ground leveled terrace. AC worked well.

We never tried the restaurant, we drived to Martina Franca and Alberobello for dinner.

Breakfast was good. Nice area to enjoy breakfast outdoor. The food were typical for Italy. Ham, salami, cheese and cereal. Several choices of pasteries.

The hotel area is nice, with flowers and lawn areas. Several places to sit to relax. The hotel felt for us almost emty, so we felt like we were alone. The pool were not heated, and not crowded at all. Nice to take a refreshing dip and continue to relax in the sun..with a beer from the pool bar.

It is hard to find the main entrance coming from the car park. Maybe traversing the extensive and multilevel outdoor areas (to get from from car park to reception and from there to the rooms) might be pleasant in daylight and with the sun shining - but not so in the cold and rain and at night. Restaurant was mediocre to poor - we tried it twice in hopes they had just had an off night. We would have liked to avoid the drive into Martina Franca at night so that all of us could enjoy wine with dinner. The bar was an uninviting section of the hallway with a very limited selection. Light fittings in the restaurant could not be plugged in - someone must have ordered ones destined for another country. The flush mechanism in our toilet came apart with each use. It felt like they hadn't quite pulled off an ambitious design.

Stayed 2 nights in August 2010 for an average of 120€/night breakfast included. Very nice modern hotel ideally located near Martina Franca in the heart of the Trulli valley. Standard rooms are clean and spacious with a queen bed, a small desk area, 3 large closets, a rather small bathroom with shower. Bar fridge & sat tv. Sat wifi on request 6€/h. Facilities include a bar, a very nice restaurant with local specialties, a large swimming pool, a fitness room with Technogym gear, and a spa center. The staff are extremely helpful and speak good English.
Just a comment: add mirrors in the fitness room. Thanks
