“Perfect Peace”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 29, 2012

If your aim on holiday is to relax and forget the hustle and bustle, this is the perfect place. The trulli style suites were simple, clean and tastefully done. An attention to detail was very much in evdience in the service and facilities provided. True, it may not be a place for everyone but it was the perfect place for my husband and myself who regard sun, peace, tranquility, a great room, good food and service as the main attractions to our holidays. Front receptionists, caretaker, and restaurant staff were extremely helpful and friendly but most improtantly efficient and accomodating. The pool area located on the grounds was surrounded by trees and natural landscape. The masseria had several nooks and crannies where one could be in total peace.

Room Tip: Palmento due was a room with a difference!

As we walked up the drive of the Masseria I was struck by the tranquility and peacefulness of the place. The grounds provide many different areas to sit, relax and generally enjoy your surroundings. The members of staff were all friendly, happy and always ready to help - absolutely perfect. We stayed in a junior suite which was built from a Trulli and found it to be comfortable, spacious and stylishly but sympathetically decorated. There is satellite tv and wifi at the Masseria so if you can't do without these things , don't fret! The pool area is idyllic and staff are on hand to bring you a cold drink and a snack if you like. The pool isn't heated so at the time of the year we visited ( late sept) the water was cold, fortunately the weather was hot so we still enjoyed a dip. Breakfast was delicious every morning with a wide variety of Italian pastries, cereals, meat and cheese - enough to satisfy the largest appetite. We ate in the Masseria restaurant on 2 evenings of our stay, the Antipasta course was excellent (buffet style, help yourself), the pasta course was good but the secondi plati i.e your meat or fish dish wasn't great on the night we had it. So much so that the 2nd night we dined in we skipped that course, be assured though we were still stuffed to the brim; particularly after scoffing the amazing chocolate fondant dessert. The surrounding area is ideal to make some short day trips and then return for a relaxing afternoon around the pool. We absolutely loved this place and hope that we'll be back to visit in the not too distant future

Masseria Fumarola in Puglia is a guest house styled according to the 19th century style. Though the place offers all the modern services and facilities, it has the grace and charm of a 19th century guest house. Situated within a calm environment, there are a number of outdoor spots where the tourists can relax amidst nature. A swimming pool adds to the list of facilities offered. The rooms display the mark of ancient architecture and interior. The restaurant offers various mouth-watering cuisines that will always make your vacation memorable for you.

Stayed here 3 nights in July in a junior suite. The idea of turning a Trulli into a hotel room is not a novel one but one that I dont quite think works. Well not in this case. Ours was in the main building and although well appointed it felt very small and cramped. We had an annex room which was totally useless given its small size for anything other than storing our cases. The room safe was pocket size and not bolted down so not sure what security it gave, given that anyone could have simply lifted it off the cupboard and walked out the door with it. A small gripe -They advertise Wifi but at 11 pm the signal disappears. A bigger gripe was two fold. 1. Zero hooks in the bathroom to hang towels, robes , etc..more importantly though gripe no.2 No shower !!!!!! Well no stand up shower. What you get is simply a small jacquzzi type bath to stand in and hand hold a shower head on a short lead. To wash each morning it involved crouching on your haunches, wetting yourself , lathering up, then rinsing. You could'nt do it standing as the hose didn't extend that far. In addition there was no screenign so of course water went everywhere.Bizzarre to say the least. In addition the air conditioning didn;t work that well and the room, even though quite small. became very stuffy and warm during the night. That aside the staff were friendly and reasonably well trained. The breakfast was ample and the dinners passable. Plenty of outdoor seating made for pleasant evening pre dnner drinks (though two consecutive nights of stale Proseco was annoying) and the pool area is attractive. I would suggest you go for a stay but make sure of the bathroom facilites and the size of your room before you do. Interestingly, we stayed at 3 masseria's on this trip and this was the only one that wasn't full. In fact it was probably running at 50%. Sort of tells you something me thinks.

We just got back from an amazing holiday at Masseria Fumarola. The hotel and setting were absolutely stunning and the interiors were very chic and beautifully designed. The pool was perfect for swimming and the breakfasts were second to none. The staff were incredibly helpful and we don't have a bad word to say about it. We will definitely be back and can't recommend it enough.

If you don't appreciate ........ classical beauty of the architecture, understated elegance of the rooms, strong colours, attention to detail, silence, "productive laziness", chestnut trees, tomatoes, cheeses and hams to die for,the countryside yet close to the beautiful coastline, feeling like a welcomed part of a family in their home and not a guest in a hotel etc etc ...... you should move to the next of the many masserie in Puglia but if you DO ......... hopefully we will see you AGAIN this summer by that magic and strong olive tree by the pool in what is one of the best kept secret in Italian hospitality

I stayed a week with a friend last summer during the peak season and this masseria is just amazing for the peaceful atmosphere, the pool surroundings with trees and grass (not the awful concrete stuff) and the friendly hosts. It is heaven when you look for a peaceful place. We had a superior room in a trulli with very large bathroom, plenty of charm. The food is excellent. Decoration is just perfect in a mere but stylish country style. Very close to the Martina Franca city center. A genuine place more like a country house than a basic luxury hotel.Definitely a good choice!
