“Beware!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed September 27, 2013

We love Sorrento and been here many times. It happens that we should stay just 2 nights before move in our usual place to stay. We read lot of positive reviews but... Our experience was absolutely terrible!
Of course, there are not 'shalets' as they say - there are some small cabing from horror movies... We had no towels and the receptionist after asking us - "Do you need any?" dissapeared forever. A/C was broken, there was no bulb in a small bed lamp... But you can cope...in the end of the day it is very cheap accomodation and you can compromise with some things . You can cope with broken knife and greasy cutlery...it is not very easy to make cup of coffee from the sousepan - they have no kettles or anything like that...BUT!!!!...Both nights, just after 10pm we had very 'lovely' neighbours who was drinking, shouting, laughung, etc till 3am...When we try to reasoning them...you understand what their response was...But to our surprise the response from the reseptionist was almost the same - We are not responsible...We can do nothing...
So, it was our real nightmare. Never ever go to this horrible hole.

We arrived here with low expectations, given the price, but after a tiring journey from Rome. Arrived at 2.30 (check in advertised as from 2pm) to be told our chalet wouldn't be ready for 45 minutes, due to cleaning. An hour and a half of sitting around later we finally got access to our accommodation. It was less than clean, with an odd dirty smell and was clearly the worst of all chalets in the park. This is a place popular for school trips, we were surrounded by loud teenagers, which wouldn't have been so bad but the other, more tranquil part of the park was empty. When we asked to be moved we were told there was nothing else available.

The reception on the TV is dreadful and only gives you half the channels. The air conditioning does not work at all. The wifi must be paid for and is very bad quality with very slow speeds and cuts off periodically.

The town is a good 10 minute walk uphill on roads often without footpaths, and with very inconsiderate drivers. The town itself is lovely and the regular circumvesuviana trains are great for seeing the sites.

The pool at Costa Alta is beautiful but, strangely, you can't go in without a swimming cap.

This is a get what you pay for site but with only a few small changes could have been great. Still feel that we paid over the odds for what we got though and I wouldn't stay here again or recommend it to anyone.

This is a nice family resort, although some of the music played around the pool was quite offensive to British families. There were mainly Italian and French families here and I'm not sure they realised what they were listening to, but I have mentioned this directly to the resort as I think they may be unaware that some of the lyrics of certain uk modern songs are quite inappropriate for young children!!. That aside, this is a lovely family run place, the staff were extremely helpful. The accommodation was basic, but clean and all that you needed. There are several local supermarkets where you can get what you else you may need.

We used this as a base for the area really, so didn't spend a lot of time here, our children are teenagers and we did a lot of touring about. There did seem to be groups of school children staying here which was a bit rowdy at times, but again this didn't bother us too much as we were out much of the day.

All in all this was a lovely holiday. The resort is very near the train station to places like Sorrento and Pompeii, I wouldn't recommend driving around here, the roads can be very narrow. The trains are very close by and easy to use.

Room Tip: If you are a family of more than 3, I would recommend a bungalow rather than a chalet as they are ve...

for the price you pay its defi a good value for money... the place is quite big and the staff are very helpful... there is a big swimming pool in the middle for those hot muggy summer's days!! the only drawback and the reason i gave it a 4 star is that you can get surrounded by families with kids and they can take over the pool area or get a big noisy in this beautiful quite place!! the breakfast is very basic but you can always speak to the staff and request eggs or other stuff which you will like for breakfast and they will try their best to accommodate it. sorrento city is a bit far from this place and you have to take a train there from the nearest station - piano di sorrento .. which is roughly 10 mins easy walk from the place!!

We visited Costa Alta on July last year.We stayed in one of the bungalows near the pool for 13 days. The bungalows were family friendly no stairs etc. for buggies, away from any busy roads, air conditioned which is a must, they had a kitchenette which was functional and practical although as one reviewer mentioned it could do with a kettle. It's a family run resort and i must say they were very friendly and were helpful in any way they could. We ate our lunch at the poolside every day and if you like Italian food( with a side if fries!) you will enjoy it,different meats and seafood every day.The pool was fantastic with plenty seats available in both shade and sun.In the evening the garden overlooking the sea was beautiful and relaxing.Wifi was available for a small fee.Two minutes walk and you're at the Supermarket and at the corner stood the restaurant with the beautiful food and takeaway pizza, hard to pass! The train station was a 15 minute walk and in about 10 minutes you arrive in Sorrento, one of the most beautiful towns i have ever visited.I am probably biased as i love Italian food, either way I will stay in this resort many more times in the years to come as i personally can't fault it.

Myself and my partner visited a couple of years ago, and while looking back at photos remembered that we never wrote a review!
Costa Alta IS NOT A LUXARY RESORT, but it was still an excellent experience! The location was fantastic, only a couple of train stops to Sorrento, and a 5 minute walk to the local beach, which was beautiful and relatively free from tourists. I would not recommend this beach to people who have trouble walking up and down hill though.
The 'Hut' that we where staying in was self catering (which seeing as we where on a budget was perfect due to the lovely local grocery shops near by, letting us experiment with cooking with local ingredients), and air conditioned - which was a life saver! While the hut was a little run down, it worked perfectly, and provided us with a comfy little home for a week. It almost felt like we where glamping! We went off season, and can imagine if you have a stag do next door, it may be a pain, but we where lucky and had a wonderful experience.
We didn't use the restaurant as we enjoyed spending our evenings sat on the porch eating our own home made dinner!
We got a great deal from lastminute.com, and it was EXCELLENT value. Especially how expensive Sorrento can be.
From someone who wants a no frills holiday, I would recommend!

A word of warning! We went to a local restaurant near the beach with views over the sea (called Ristorant Ripetta Hotel I think), and we had a terrible experience! Because we where tourists they ignored us! Bad expensive food too.
Also, if you want to visit Naples, do not walk around the city, get a bus tour or something. We had some lad on a moped chuck coke all over us, and some of the locals where a bit intimidating.
