“A wonderful place to base our Amalfi weekend”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 25, 2014

A group of us stayed at the Hotel over the Valentine's Day weekend and we were warmly waited on and attended to by the staff. They made us feel at home and made our stay most enjoyable.

The rooms were clean and of adequate size with the amenities you would expect. The rates were super afordable considering the proximity to the Amalfi Coast. In fact, the bus to Positano stops almost in front of the hotel and the town is just a few kilometers away. From the roof of the hotel you can look down on both the Bay of Naples and see the Bay of Salerno.

We ate at the hotel both nights and enjoyed the food. On Saturday they had a DJ and a local dance group that meets there regularly. It didn't take long before we joined in the fun!

I recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a reasonably priced and friendly hotel close to the Amalfi Coast.

Room Tip: If possible ask for a room overlooking the valley and down into the bay.

We where part of an Italy Tour group. This place is just incredible.. Neat, good food , good location We had a small castle view from our room. At 05h00am every morning we could hear the cockcrow. Staff is very friendly. This place is not very far (45mins) from the boat crossing to Capri. We highly recommend this place. although it is located a little far.

We stayed at Hotel San Pietro for 8 nights and found it to be excellent. Tonino, Aleesia, Nina and the team were outstanding, they went out of their way to make sure our stay was happy and pleasant. They organised trips for us, negotiated very cheap taxi fare - half of what we would pay if we organised this for ourselves. More importantly the food was authentic Italian, excellent quality. I would recommend this hotel to anyone, as it is out of the rush of Sorrento with beautiful mountain backdrop and wonderful views to the Sorrento coast. His hotel is located 7 kls out of Sorrento and 7 Klms to Possitano.

Dear Anne,
thank you very much for your review.
We are very happy you spent a great time at Hotel Colli San Pietro and, although you live very far from Italy, we hope to see you again on the Amalfi Coast where it will be a pleasure for all of us to be helping you again in organizing your holiday and stay.

Kind regards from the sunny coast by the Hotel staff.

I had a wonderfull time in Colli San Pietro and I found staff friendly, warm and helpfull.
Hotel is clean, the rooms and the bathrooms are large and the price is good for the Amalfi Coast. The food was also really very good,
The hotel is wellplaced, between Sorrento and Positano, 7 km from Positano, ideal as a base from which you can explore both sides of the Amalfi Coast. In front of the hotel there is a bus station, from where you can get anywhere on the coast.
I would certainly recommend Hotel Colli San Pietro .

It is difficult for me to agree with the negative reviews posted here by some Italian customers. We have traveled Italy extensively and found this hotel to be excellent for the following reasons:

- Staff is very friendly and accommodating
- Hotel is superbly clean - both rooms and common areas
- Rooms are great size and showers/bathrooms are large for Europe in general
- Excellent value at around €90 a night, which is superb considering August (vacation time) and location (hello? it is Amalfi!)
- Building is very well maintained. I stayed in many hotels over this trip and this is the best maintained building I have stayed in; everything from doors, to walls, to windows, to outlets, to faucets - very well maintained. Owners, please keep up the maintenance!
- Views from the common terrace are outstanding

If you drive, the parking along the road near the hotel is free. It is somewhat hard to get to the water, but there is bus you can take anywhere. Overall, excellent value!

Dear Greg,
thank you very much for your excellent, clear and well considered notes.

We agree with them and although we think we still can improve our services and the maintenance status of our Hotel, that was restructured less than 2 years ago, we are very happy to see that our work can be appreciated by our guests.

We are working to have happy guests during their stay as well as at check-out and we hope their happiness will increase with the time.

We look forward to host you and your friends again,
thanks again from

My husband and I stayed here for 6 nights for a family wedding in June 2013. We had a wonderful time and can honestly say we found staff friendly and helpful, the food is very good and the rooms spotlessly clean. I would love to return to it and would certainly recommend it.

Room Tip: Rooms at side away from the road quieter.

My mother and I stayed here for 14 nights and had a wonderful time. Antonino and staff really deserve praise and credit for their unfailing desire to please with nothing being to much trouble. This hotel is spotlessly clean: floor, walls, upholstery, bedding, towels, fixtures and fittings. As an experienced traveler (and I am very well traveled) I can assure you that you cannot have any more for less, indeed I thought the hotel was something of a bargain. The food was really very good with the Chateaubriand (yes - the Irony, our favourite dish wasn't of Italian origin) being a particular highlight; though you should not infer that this is high end cuisine, it's not, but it is very good value and commensurate with excellent Italian restaurants.
The Hotel is well placed high above Sorrento and is ideal as a base from which you can explore both sides of the peninsula, the only caveat being the need of a car or a powerful scooter and the cojones to drive here - for the Brit used to polite considerate driving, the experience will have your eyes wide open, it is truly terrifying. My mother commented that she had not heard me swear so much and would characterise the Neapolitan driver's as recklessly impatient.
So would I recommend this hotel - yes without reservation, Of course the onus is on you to pin down what you want. If it's a pool, glitz, boutiques and bar's on the doorstep then perhaps this hotel isn't for you - for us it turned out to be a fine choice.

Room Tip: The best rooms are probably second floor, either facing you or on the left side as you look at the p...
