“Superb hotel (BUT)”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 7, 2011

We are just back from this could be a Great Hotel, the location is great if you get a room with a sea view and to the front of the hotel.Food very good and plenty of it.The wine served at the table, white ,red and rose all italian wines are the worst I have ever taisted. The staff, some were first class the rest will have to go on a smile and look happy course. If you likea coffee in your room then all you get is 2 small packets of decaf coffee,2 tea bags but you get 4 small milks.the pool area is great and the, pool bar area and food is first class the staff here are 1st class.our room 312 was light, quiet and clean apart from the mould on the fridge we did report the fridge but all we got was a shrug of the shoulders while we were there it never was cleaned. My NEGATIVE POINTS ARE SMALL this hotel could be great with a wee bit more effort from some of the staff.
We booked through Thomson Holidays. When we arrived at Naples Airport we traveled to the hotel with no Thomson Rep.The Thomson Hotel Rep was not at the hotel to greet us,but the welcome from the staff was great. The Thomson Hotel Rep need to get a better presance in the hotel. The hotel is great for couples no kids, and the free bus up and down to Sorrento is great.Again this hotel could be a 5* hotel with a little bit of effort but at the moment it's a 3+ * hotel

Room Tip: front of hotel with sea view or get an upgrade room

We arrived at about 11pm to be greeted with wine & an excellent cold collation. Staff took our cases to the room while we ate.
The hotel was very clean & well appointed with plenty of marble & antique furniture.
The hotel food & service were 1st class. The staff were very friendly helpful.
They spoke more than enough English to deal with my wife & I have who have no Italian.
The first morning Alexandro the rep gave a talk introducing the hotel & staff. In the afternoon he took a group us on a useful 2½ hour trip round Sorrento.
We found the courtesy bus into Sorrento very useful. We used it & the local busses a number of times. Alexandro had warned us that the 20 mins from Sorrento by taxi would cost €45-55 dependant on time of day.
The grounds of the hotel were better than most of the gardens we went to visit.
The pool area had ample seating & the selection & quality of food available by the pool at lunch time would take some beating.
Like an earlier reviewer we came to wish that we had booked for ten days & not just a week.
We had chosen an upgrade room in the Occhio Marino. The room itself was well appointed & the large bed was the most comfortable my wife & I have ever slept in.
The only fly in the ointment was the lack of extractor fan in the toilet/bathroom. At one time the building had air conditioning. It has been decommissioned (signs of parts being removed.) leaving inop extractor fans in all the bathrooms in the block. This had led to a little black mould & smells left by bodily functions hanging round longer than expected.

The biggest disapointment for us that we only booked for ten days and not two weeks!
There is nothing in this hotel that you can fault.
The staff all make you feel so welcome in a personal way and it seems as though nothing is too much trouble for them. Alessandro met us at the airport , he called himself a 'cheeky monkey' and he was very amusing! His knowledge of the area was outstanding. We then met
Naomi, the Company Rep, She seemed to have boundless energy and enthusiasm for encouraging us to join in with the group activities , We did enjoy the Yoga and Tai Chi classes although we were not made to feel under pressure to join in. This girl is a real peoples person and an asset to Thompsons- What A star!
The food, quality and amount, simply takes your breath away! Every meal is a revelation by the variety and the beautiful way in which it is displayed.
The Hotel Rooms are immaculate, as is the pool and the grounds are stunning, thanks a lot I believe to a very happy man from Sri Lanka who was so friendly and always with a smile!
The lovely Angelo kept everyone happy in the dining room(especially the ladies!) He put so much work into making every evening a special one.
We have never booked a Package all inclusive holiday before, I can,t imagine we would find one that could match this one. Our thanks to everyone at this hotel.

Room Tip: We had 140 which had a sea view but was smaller than my Sister-in-laws who had room 154- but both w...

We have just returned from a brilliant holiday. When we arrived I was worried that the hotel would be too quiet for me as I like a lively atmosphere and I do feel that the evening entertainment could be improved upon. Otherwise you can't fault the hotel. We stayed in room 130 which has been upgraded and has a fantastic balcony. Food very good. Excellent choice. Spotlessly clean and Gennaro in the lobby bar is a legend.
Pool area and hot tubs in the grounds were an added bonus. True luxury. Regular shuttle bus into Sorrento so I would suggest that you make your own arrangements for trips. We took the train to Pompeii and were entertained by the musicians onboard. Fantastic experience and saved a lot of money in the process. Only 2 euros each way.

Went with Thomsons to Capri and Anacapri. Again, we could have saved money on this trip as you can buy ferry ticket in Sorrento and we weren't impressed with our tour guide and other guests on this trip were of the same opinion. Our concerns have been forwarded to Thomsons. However, other tour guides used by Thomsons are excellent.

This trip aside, the hotel is first class and an excellent base to discover the area. Breathtaking views from various locations within the grounds.

Room Tip: Rooms in the main hotel have been upgraded

We arrived at the Grand Hotel Nastro Azzurro on 23 September and returned home today 3 October. When we arrived at the airport and boarded our coach Alessandro was there to welcome us and tell us about the area. He is really the Cheeky Monkey he says he is - an excellent guide/rep. We arrived at the hotel late morning and were greeted by Naomi, another rep who was a joy. We were given drinks and nibbles and were then shown to the poolside restaurant where we enjoyed a wonderful lunch of fresh pizzas, salads, pasta etc. This hotel far exceeded our expectations. The restaurant in the morning and evening served amazing food. Plenty of choice, in fact too much choice if you can't be disciplined like me! Angelo in the restaurant was so charming to everyone and made all us ladies feel very special. There is a courtesy bus into Sorrento which was really convenient and we used this many times. Jaya who looked after the gardens to perfection and helped us on many occasions with cases was a lovely man from Sri Lanka with a constant smile.
The pool area was clean and very inviting, many sun loungers - all that you would need. We took part in Naomi's classes for tai chi and yoga a few times which was good fun. There were many themed evenings which other reviewers have described - the staff went to so much trouble to make everything special. If I had known how many special evenings in the restaurant and after there were I would have taken more dresses. Advice to ladies - you need some evening dresses. We would recommend this hotel to anyone. It was a very generous package. We thank all the staff without exception who made out holiday amazing.

Room Tip: We had a room with a terrace on the first floor. My sister in law and husband had a room on the fir...

We've just returned from the best holiday ever - it was perfect from beginning to end!
Our flight from East Mids Airport was an early one and we arrived at the Nastro Azzurro feeling a little jaded, but the friendly welcome, the overall ambience, the lush surroundings and the glass of bubbly soon lifted our spirits and replaced any tiredness with excitement. - we knew we had chosen well.
It exceeded all expectation in all ways.
Our rooms weren't ready but our suitcases were taken care of and we were shown the extensive grounds on our way to the poolside bar where lunch was served. It was a fab lunch - pizzas were being freshly cooked in the stone oven, there was a huge choice of other dishes, puds, lush icecreams and fresh fruit all washed down with Peroni, wines - you name it you could have it!!!The staff are exceptional - we have never experienced such good service; they couldn't do enough and were so friendly and obliging throughout the whole two weeks. The waiter service in the evenings was really something special!
Our room had no balcony which was a little disconcerting, but we did have a beautiful roof terrace complete with sunbeds, fully stocked fridge, hot and cold showers and views to die for
so no moans! The room was just lovely - very modern with mood lighting of all colours, spacious wardrobes, double walk-in shower and separate loo, bidet and double basins. We also had robes and slippers, clean towels every day, pool towels and our beds turned down every night - we felt truly pampered. They gave us a free A La Carte meal, too, to compensate for no balcony which was gorgeous- all beautiful and all cooked in front of you.
The choice of breakfast meals was extensive and you could order omelette or pancakes or smoked salmon and scrambled eggs - so delicious!
Entertainment was also good - we had a poolside BBQ, a Sweethearts Ball, Traditional Dancers, Gala Dinner, A Black and White Ball to name but a few - it was lovely to get glammed up and be waited on. Ladies, be sure to take several dressy outfits!
We made good use of the courtesy bus to explore 'The Drains' in Sorrento - the little shops are fascinating - and we also went to Capri and on The Amalfi Drive both of which were awesome. We did the Capri trip ourselves and became part of 'Salvatore's family'!!!! Salvatore was a tour guide who 'adopted' us at the harbour and for 20 euros showed us the sights, recommended an eating place and paid our transport fees all over the island - he was a real character!!! The Amalfi Drive was an organised trip and, again, was well worth it - it is easy to see why the rich and famous choose to live there, it is breath takingly beautiful!
Our days lazing by the pool gazing down into the bay were so relaxing and a visit to The Sunset Bar , where the views are panoramic, around 5 o'clock each evening for a refreshing G+T became a ritual.
We usually only do a week and then look to do another week elsewhere, but we were so glad we chose to stay here for 2 weeks - we really didn't want to come home. It was a holiday to remember and we would heartily recommmend this hotel to anyone looking for a relaxing pamper-filled holiday
