“A good choice for this money”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 28, 2012

I've stayed in this hotel for a week this summer 2012 with two kids (3 and 12 years old). The room was nice and clean, we had frigde, which helped a lot to save money :) We didn't take all inclusive, so we bought some food in the nearest shops. The supermarket on the left of the hotel is a bit cheaper that on the right.Although both are rather expencive comparing with big supermarkets in the center of Malia or Agios Nikolaos.
The food in the hotel was good, not a big choise, but of a good quality. Drinks were for free during the breakfast, but for dinner we had to buy. The stuff was friendly.
The hotel has 3 swimming pools with sea water for kids (they change water and clean the pools every 2 days!) and one swimming pool for adults with pure water.
As we didn't have all inclusive the sun beds at the swimming pool and at the sea were 3 euro per day.
Air conditioners in the room worked normally, it was for free, I only asked for remote controls at the reception.
We rented the car for couple of days, it's much cheaper to do outside the hotel then inside the hotel. We visited the lake Kournas, which was quite beautiful, plateau Lassithi, which was a waste of time :), city Agios Nikolaos was beautiful, especially the cafe above the harbour.
Also we were impressed by hospitality of Greek people.
All in all we had fantastic time, for sure we'll come back to Greece.

The Hotel is situated directly on the beach. The recently renovated apartments were clean and spacious, with a nice view over the pool and sea. The staff was very helpful with all different kinds of things. We would definitely recommend the hotel to other couples/families. Perfect setting for a relaxing holiday.

Room Tip: All the room are perfect

It was a good hotel, good value for money. It was clean and tidy, food was very good. Disadvantage that the restaurant evenings was overcrowded, so we had to wait until we could dine. It has direct access to beach which was nice, but it was quite far away from Malia center.
Room amenities was quite old and spartan, very old small TV, no WiFi Wireless internet! For air conditioning you have to pay ca. 6EUR/day, like for the safe deposit box.
Personal was nice, kind and helpful, they were speaking very good English and German!
Pool are and beach was very nice.

Room Tip: Ask for the seaview, but this could be loud until midnight as they have performances, parties evenin...

I ask from my travel agency from Timisoara ,Romania a silent Hotel with a lot of vegetation, flowers and I found a very common place in contradiction with my wishes,my trip was in 11.06.2012-18.06.2012 .The rooms in the main building is nice and large but is not the same in the buildings around.
The hotel rooms door makes a big noise even you close it carefully, also you can hear every noise from outside the room. They clean the rooms every day from morning to evening and make a lot of noise, is not possible to rest in the afternoon. The food for all inclusive was good, the wine and the beer was also god but only in restaurant, at the Pool bar the quality of beer and wine was much lower. The Pool bars look not very nice(plastic chairs, tables and glasses),the pool is small for the size of the hotel, you have to wake up before 7'o clock to catch a sunbed. The hotel was full of Russian people with a lot of children who make scuba diving in the pool even this has been prohibited by inscriptions, nobody from the hotel stuff supervise this. The hotel stuff is OK but don't make you to feel yourself like a customer in holiday.

Room Tip: I recommand you to choose Malia Park Hotel 5 minutes walk to Phaedra,is like in Paradise.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 18, 2012

We were at Phaedra Beach Hotel from the 4th of June, for 7 nights. When we booked the hotel, we knew it was a three star hotel, so we didn't expect too much. We have payed for all inclusive type of meals. So, let me tell you about the hotel: the hotel is situated at twenty-twenty five minutes walk from Malia, where the clubs and the bustle is. I, for instance, was not looking for this in my vacation, so this was not a problem for me. The hotel is situated on the beach. The beach is a large one, with sand. The entrance in the water is smooth, and after a few meters, you'll find rocks. They say that there are sea urchins in the water, but I did not met them. :) BTW: In case they pinch you, you should put ammonia, and rub it with vinegar(ask at the reception, as they are very nice and will surely help you) and the pins will get out of your body easier. If you buy special shoes for the water(you can find them at 7 EUR) you could be sure you wouldn't have problems with them. The water is very clear, and the temperature was great.
Every evening they had animation program. One night we had a magician, one night a Greek night, two nights disco night and two football nights (the put out a big screen were the men could watch the European Championship). During the day there is no animation, but we didn't miss it because we were a small group of seven and we had fun by ourselves (we played volleyball in the pool, cards, backgammon, with the disk, with beach rackets and so on).
The sunbeds near the pool, for us, with all inclusive, were free of charge. The only problem was that they didn't have enough sunbeds for everyone. So, to catch one, we had to wake up at 7 o'clock. The adult pool is large, with depth in some parts of 2.80 meters.
At the beach, two sunbeds and one umbrella costs 6 EUR, if I remember well.
The food... GREAT. I mean each day other kind of food. We had chicken, fish, one day seafood, pork, sheep, turkey. We had various salads, in the evening soup, lots of garnishes, watermelon, cakes, cookies, jam, honey, and so on. If one tray was empty, it was replaced immediately with a new one. The food was very delicious.
At the pool bar your could find soft drinks (cola, sprite, water, orange juice, lemonade), beer and red and white wine. You can also find ice cream.
The rooms were big enough. Me, my husband and a friend had a two bedded apartment. Mine and my husband's room was a double bed room, and our friend's was a twin bed room. The maid came to our room daily, cleaned the room, changed the towels and made the beds.
I would recommend this hotel 100 %. We just loved our holiday there!

Room Tip: The rooms in the reception building are older then the rooms in the other building.

Be warned - do not go into Sea from beach without swimming shoes. there are plenty SEA URCHINS in rocks and sea is full of Rocks and watch out for Cross Current pushing one towards rocks. Spent 1st night with wife taking needles out of toes and caring for sliced feet from cuts from rocks.
Rooms acceptable, but airconditioning did not work despite many requests.Relatively clean but could be better.
Great selection of food and quality of food was good.
Pool area good if you could find sun bed in time after early morning reservations or if you get to Pool early enough, because people steal your reserved sunbeds.
Beach was great if prepared to pay 6 Euros a day- Pool and beach Bar was saving grace- constant service with a smile- despite poor quality/selection of all inclusive drinks..
Entertainment was good and enjoyable.
Hotel staff, waiters, Barmen, entertainment crew were all friendly and helpful.
Had great holiday despite everything

The hotel was a good hotel for the price we paid. The room was a fair size, we got a standard room. We had a balcony room, which was nice. The air con you have to pay a surcharge for. The hotel staff were always helpful and friendly. There was entertainment in the evening every night at the hotel which was always nice, one night there was a lovely bbq with lots of lovely food, but unfortunatly we had already eaten so didnt have any. The bar was good, although the beers were really watered down, which is what i always expect from a all inclusive anyway, but the prices if you wanted for instance a Whisky and coke were not bad. The buffet food was always nice, something for everyone, although much the same on most evenings, but were a few changes throughout our stay, but it was fine, tasty and what you would expect. The breakfast buffet and lunch buffet were always good too. Breakfast is what you would expect from a continental breakfast, the usual bread, cheese, meat, fruit etc which was nice, although the scrambled eggs did not look great, which i stayed away from. Cerials also provided with chilled milk, and plenty of juices, tea and coffee (although the tea wasnt great). The pools were nice, always clean and always staff around. We did not use the pool often prefering to use the beach. The hotel has its own private beach, with plenty of deck chairs, although have to pay a fee for these, but it wasnt expensive. The beach was nice, but was quite rocky in the sea but once you got past the rocks it was ok. Beware of the sea urchins tho, as i stood on one and it was quite painful, but the hotel medic was good help and told me what it was and advised me on treatment. The location was ok. It was out of the centre, so didnt get too noisy at night time. We walked into the town centre each day and evening, although there is a lack of a foot path the road doesnt get busy, except for the mopeds that you can hire from the town. It was approximatly a 20 min brisk walk, it was quite a nice walk, past shops etc, but in the heat it was a bit hard going, but nothing to strenuous. There was a few convienience stores near by so was good for snacks etc, and there is a few restaurants near the hotel, in particular a greek one which was lovely, this was about a 10 min walk from the hotel. Overall i would recommend this hotel, for the price it is great, the only let down was the distance from the town, but the hotel description does state this, so if looking for a centre hotel then dont choose this one, but if you dont mind a 20 min walk, then this one is great, as it is away from most of the noise of the clubs and pubs at the evening.
