“Great Holiday”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 28, 2013

Don't listen to the bad reviews this hotel is great for a stay in Mailia, great staff friendly and helpful. Room was basic but did the job. Great facilities and ideal location to explore crete and mailia. Really relaxing holiday thank you :)

We have just been spending 4 lovely weeks at Aeolos Beach Hotel, Malia. We were really impressed of this hotel. Located on the beach, with real nice surroundings. Basic room-with everything we needed-and allways clean and tidy everywhere. Excellent food. Wery helpful and friendly staff. Just a short walk into Malia villagecenter - with everything you want.
This is one of the best hotels we have visited.
Highly recommended

Malia may not be the first resort to come to mind for a young family or relaxing couples holiday, but behind the raucus nightlife on the strip hides some wonderful places and the most warm and welcoming people you could ever want to meet. Aeolos beach is an immaculately clean hotel staffed by the friendliest family and team.

The hotel has two pools with slides etc in the childrens pool and a bar in the other and is right on the beach with its own beach bar that serves food all day. The hotel also boasts the best water sports on the beach, from banana boats to parasailing, although the pedalos is more my style! The sandy beach is perfect for little ones shelving very gently into the crystal clear waters. The hotel bar closes at 10 which means a quiet night for those that dont want to venture out. The bright lights and clubs of the strip are just a 5 minute walk away or there are some fantastic restaurants very near by or in the old town which is a 15 minute walk away.

Malia has a wealth of traditional tavernas all within minutes of the hotel it also is the home of the original Malia Palace for those interested in historical sites.

Very reasonably priced for what you get, I will be returning next year.

The hotel really exceeded my expectations in terms of service and location, the staff were very pleasant and helpful as they tried to assist us with all queries as much as they could. The rooms were pretty basic but very clean and had everything we needed really, they were cleaned on a daily basis and were quite spacious. We felt safe at all times as there was a security guard throughout the night.

The pool area was excellent as there were 2 pools - one main one which was situated nearer to the beach and hotel bar/restaurant and the smaller one with the 3 slides which was great for the kids as it kept them entertained throughout the day. The pools were regularly cleaned and there were always enough loungers so we had no issues there.

The beach was literally 1 min walk from our room and was clean but very wavy, the only annoying thing about the beach was the sun lounger guy a very annoying man that seems to pester young girls throughout the day.... don't be fooled by his friendly approach!!

The food at the hotel was good not amazing but great value for money - I would recommend the Calamari with greek salad on the side! We only had b&b so can't really comment on the food if you are planning to go half board or all inclusive but would advise you to get a room only, as the selection at breakfast was quite poor and very repetitive.

The location of this hotel is amazing and it's suitable for both couples or families, as it's close enough to the main Malia strip (turn left from the hotel and it's a min walk, turn right at the top of the road and you will see all the bars/clubs. It's good for families, as it's far enough to avoid noise from the strip!

Some restaurants I would recommend near the hotel Captain Cook opposite hotel, really friendly service, good food and great value for money. Candia restaurant which is on the left side of the hotel the food is very traditional and again excellent service (the owner Harry is very friendly and pleasant). Kalispera restaurant had good food as well which is nearer the strip on the right hand side. Relax bar with the hamac chairs is a really good spot for relaxation...nice cocktails and shisha but I wouldn't recommend the shisha personally.

There is also a water park nearby, we didn't go but there are loads of places to get tickets from near the hotel.

Room Tip: The family rooms are nearer the main road - we stayed in room 3 which was great as it's literall...

Stayed here in a group of 10 for a week: 3 teens, 4 adults and 2 kids. It is definitley a family hotel not for youngsters coming to party. It was decent for the price paid however they are very stingy.
We arrived at night to no lights on at all and no reception, just a creepy security guard waiting to give u a key in the dark. He showed us to our rooms and told us to check in in the morning when someone would be at reception.. What 'hotel' doesnt have a 24hour reception?! You also have to pay extra for the aircon which we couldnt even pay for until the next morning so had to go sweaty for a night. You are also only given one key per room probably because they dont want u to leave things on charge etc in the day, considering all lights get turned off by half 10 and theres no evening entertainment! Stingy! For me and my mum having one key was terrible because I would go out everynight which meant I had to come back and wake her up to get back in otherwise she would have no lights!
Even the 'waterpark' at the pool aka 3 slides were turned off in the day, you had to ask at the bar to turn the slides on so they could save money in theyre water bill im guessing. Oh and you even have to pay for the sunbeds at their own beach!
Apart from the stingyness breakfast was decent and the rooms were very clean. Considering there is no entertainment in the hotel they could at least give us good tv's so we dont get bored out of out heads but no only 3 channels.
As i said it is definitley a family hotel because the owners warn everyone no boys/girls in the room haha and it is deep into the road so u dont hear noise from the strip.

Overall it was a decent stay as it was 5 mins from the strip but far enough away from it. It was kept very clean and had a good pool for kids with lovely staff although they were hardly there. However if you are going with a family I would suggest staying in a town called stalis which was less in the heart of malia but still only 10 mins down the road with much nicer beaches and more to do for families.

Me and my 3 friends were here in June-July staying in this hotel, it was cleaned nearly everyday and new towels and sheets, room a good size with a mini fridge and air condition. Food in the hotel was eatable but could do with more choice for breakfast as its more like a Greek breakfast. The swimming pool was very nice and the beach situated 2 seconds away from hotel was ideal. Would definitely stay here again and would recommend it to anyone. It is also only a 5 min walk to the strip which was great!
