“Very nice and quiet place to relax”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 10, 2012

If you go to Crete to actually see nice stuff and relax, this is the hotel for you. Very Friendly Owners, always clean. Was there for 12 days and cant say one bad thing about the stay. Despite Malia being crazy party place this hotel was very quiet. So if you are not party crazy person this is exactly hotel for you for very reasonable price too. I am for sure comming next year again. Peter & Tanya.

I think this hotel is best in all Malia if you are not 16-18 years old and not looking for party hard.
The atmosphere is really lovely, staff very friendly. I really enjoyed my stay there. It's quiet and peaceful that's all what I needed.

6 friends and me stayed at Sun Village from 3-13 July this year and we were treated like idiots from the start.
We arrived at the hotel around 1am, we respected that people will be asleep nearby and was whispering to each other in conversation. Marina who works at the hotel started shouting at us to shut up before she had even said hello.
No complementary drinks on arrival, and they only let us stay in 2 rooms despite the fact we booked 3 rooms. Marinas Dad who also runs the hotel barely said a word to us through the holiday, he just glared angrily when we walked past and occasionally had a rant if he thought we were being too loud. We were charged 7euros per room per day for Air Con and 40euros for 2 safes. Even though some girls we met in the rooms next to us got safes for free.
The pool is brilliant, and the maid is very efficient and easy to speak to, also the location of the hotel is perfect, not too close to the strip so that you cant sleep but not too far away that you need a taxi. It’s around a 5minute walk to the beach and supermarkets are very close by.
Towards the end of our stay the owners started to treat us slightly better and actually mentioned writing a good review on trip adviser to us at one point, which was strange. The food is very average and there were no fitness facilities at all.
Overall Sun Village is a family hotel, and despite us being sensible respectable lads, they had it in for us from the start. If you're going on an 18-30's type holiday you should avoid Sun Village like the plague.

This is a good hotel, it is not far from the beach and mostly importantly it is far enough from the extremely noisy street of bars, pubs and clubs that are teeming with *a-hem* British teenagers. If you lived close to that or even worse, there, I fear you would not be able to have any night sleep at all.
So back to the hotel, very good location, quiet enough at nights, very friendly staff (it's a family, that makes it less formal and friendlier in a way), the rooms are nice, spacious enough (the double room has also an extra bed). On the other hand if you come with the professional pictures rom their website in your mind, honestly you won't get the feeling of 4 stars. But it is nice, hope that makes sense. Most importantly it is also very clean, the towels and sheets are replaced every day, etc.
Very useful indeed, there is a safety box in the room.
Also, if the facilities mentioned are very important to you, please ask in advance about their availability, you might find out that they are not de facto available (airport shuttle -non-existant, billards? I don't think so.)
I definitely recommend this hotel to anybody going to Malia, even though I would not recommend Malia itself for other reasons. :)
All in all one of the best choices there is. Recommended.

Room Tip: Choose a room on the first or second floor, you get two very handy and spacious balconies.

We stayed here for a week at the end of July. The owners are very friendly and the rooms were clean with air conditioning that works really well. The pool are is very relaxing as is the bar area. Don't consider other places, just book here.

The rooms were nicely decorated and bathroom was clean and modern. The hotel is in a really good location - a few minutes from the beach and the strip, but far enough away that there is hardly any noise to disturb you. The pool is lovely and sunbeds were clean and comfortable. When we stayed there were also enough for basically everyone staying, and so there was no need to rush out of bed early to grab one in the morning. Rooms were cleaned daily and all the staff are lovely - very friendly and welcoming. The food available is also tasty and good value. Would definitely stay again! :)
