“the fine art of masters”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 14, 2013

Dom Schatz/ the treasures of the Dom is a must see and it takes you back in time,
the needle work and the skills of the craftsmen and masters are stunning.
Look out for the robes and and the safe where the objects were housed, there are so many objects, the details are amazing. The tapestry are a mix of woven and stitched and worked by 12 canonesses ten years at about 800 years ago and it is still very good condition.
Thank to the people of Halberstadt, who saved tose treasures from beeing destroyed
during reforemation and war times past.

A walk around the city is time well spend, look out fro the "Lying Stone" there is a local folk tale around that stone (near the entry of the Church, on the grassy pit).

“If you are within one hour of driving: Go there”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 13, 2012

The area of the Harz in Germany has once been one of the richest in Europe due to large mining industries (yes, even in mediavel times you could name this industry) which brought up a lot of silver.

This richness plus the fact that this was the heart of the German empire of a long time made for very nice buildings and a lot of big treasures for the church.

Even though the town has suffered dearly in WWII and the neyt 45 years the Dom still shows the glory of the history and the treasury opens up to a large amount of items, alot of them very pretty and very precious. It is not well known on tourist tours but if you are close to it, just give yourself the time and have a stop.

“The Halberstadt cathedral and its treasure”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 27, 2012

The cathedral was built in 13th/14th century and truely is one of the most beautiful Gothic church buildings in Germany.
Aside of the church building (actually part of it) is one of the most extensive collections of church treasures consisting of over 650 individual pieces.
(The entry to the church is free, for the museum, there's a fee)
