We stayed at the Hotel Aujon Easter 2006 (sorry for the late review!) and had a fabulous holiday. It is not a luxurious hotel by any means but the rooms were clean and comfortable. The good selection of food and wine was plentiful, all self service. I agree with a previous Trip Advisor review that the staff were not particularly friendly but it did not spoil the enjoyment of our stay. And yes, there were other nationalities staying at the hotel but we didnt find them any worse than our fellow Brits!
We were 2 families with 3 children between us (15, 19, and 17) and had 3 rooms - 2 twins and 1 triple which had twin beds and a high bed with wardrobe and storage underneath. Not overly spacious, but certainly adequate bearing in mind we were only in it to sleep. The bathroom was fine and there was a good supply of fresh towels and toiletries.
Included in the price of our holiday was a meal in their Savoyard restaurant where we had raclette and pierrade - excellent. The wine was not supposed to be included, but we never received a bill for it, which made it taste even better! Once a week the hotel puts on a 'grand surprise buffet' - delicious, the strawberries and chocolate were to die for!!
I think value for money this hotel is excellent, bearing in mind that you get full board with wine included at both lunch and dinner. Luxurious it isn’t, but its certainly comfortable, clean and just a short walk to all the ski-lifts. A definite favourite of ours and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it.
