“A dream location in the heart of Provence”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 6, 2009

A beautifully restored farm house, near Avignon, full of charm. A peaceful location. The owners, a young couple, are dedicated to the comfort of their clients. The feeling of coming home at the end of a day of exporing is made complete by an outstanding meal. Julien, chef by profession expresses his love of cooking with a 5 course meal, complete with wine, at a most reasonable price. As a chef I can attest to the high quality of the food. Children are welcome, Carole and Julien have two young children of their own.

Carole and Julien's B&B is a magical place, the best holiday by far we have had. The house, rooms, breakfast, garden, location are all top notch. But it was the evening meals that we thought were pure heaven, to sit in the amazing dining room/hall, meeting all the other guests, wine flowing, eating the most amazing food was a provence at its very best and we loved it!

I knew from the onset, by the communication when booking this reservation, that all would be handled with the utmost of consideration and care. And so it was, a super place to stay, so incredibly close to an unending choice of quaint hillside villages and small museums and breathtaking scenery.
Julien was a superb host, who was always generous with his availability.
We stayed in one of the smallest rooms (Pitchoune) an outbuilding with stone floors and walls and a big double glass door that opened up to an private area to sit and read/relax/have a bite to eat. We loved the privacy that it offered and would stay there again.
The pool was beautiful, complete with comfortable chaises longues and umbrellas.
But, of course, the best of it all was the breakfasts to please any pallette. We also chose to have dinner there three of our six evenings and were totally impressed with the presentation/quantity and taste of our dinners. What an additional special treat!!!
We thank Julien and Carole for making our stay one that we will never forget.

Sous L'Olivier, Lagnes, Provence, France.

We have been staying here each summer for the last 10 years! We started coming before we had children and now our children are 2 and 3 yrs old we are still coming back. Wonderful location, fantastic food. In the evening everyone who chooses to dine there sits around one of the two huge tables outside and talks over wine and cusine. The pool, gardens and lounges offer a lovely place to unwind. Location wise, there are so many gems of towns to see within half an hour, that you won't get to see them all.

Unlike some B&B's, they are happy for you to relax at the house all day if you choose and make you very welcome. Julien and Carole are great hosts. Julien learned to cook from his mother (herself a fantastic cook with a restaurant in town) and he went on to train in a top London restaurant, before returning home to start his B&B business.

If I was being selfish, I wouldn't post this - as we would like to keep it to ourselves, but we have met so many freindly and intersting guests around the table over the years, that I thought - wht the hell!

This is B & B at its very best; the hosts are welcoming to the point of becoming family! The food is absolutely magnificent; the rooms spacious and very comfortable. We were there to celebrate a wedding and the trouble our hosts Julien and Carole went to in preparation was absolutely second to none. This is the place to go! All of our party had a fantastic time and nothing was too much trouble.

If I had a "year in Provence", I'd spend it at Sous L'Olivier! This is a fantastic B&B...as a matter of fact, we consider it our favorite in France. The farmhouse is spacious and beautifully decorated. The hosts are wonderful. The room was large and comfortable. The location is a perfect home base for exploring the region. And, of course, the breakfasts and dinners were fabulous! We spent three nights and will certainly return. Wonderful!

My husband and I spent four wonderful days at this lovingly cared for B&B. Our room was well appointed, and as Americans, we were delighted with a real shower! The owners, Julien and Carole, are a delightful couple: Julien is an excellent chef who serves up a very ample breakfast and then outdoes himself with his outstanding evening meal. Carole was always ready to assist us in our daily planning with suggestions of places to see.
The B&B is in a wonderful location from which one can drive easily to many of the villages in the Provence area.
We recommend this B&B very highly and, we know that should we be able to pass this way through France again, would stay again without hesitation.
