“Definetively, the place to stay in Luberon”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 16, 2011

I spent three nights at the end of August 2010. Menèrbes was my meeting point with some American friends from Chicago.

Pierrick and Mireille offer a wonderful house, very nice and quite rooms, beautiful landscape, great location but the most important, is their nice and warm personality. They have found the perfect equilibrium between the “savoir faire” of a Parisian (the breakfast room was impecable, the swimming pool towels had embroidered the name of the rooms) with the “warmth” of the South of France (my American friends met me at Mas du Magnolia after a five hour drive and, even if they were not staying in the house, Mireille brought them in for breakfast as any other guest).

If you need help or ideas of places to go, they would inform you, if you know what you are doing, they would not bother you. Friendly, but not overwhelming; helpful, but not bossy. They really make the difference.

It was my second time in the Luberon, I will definitively go back (it is a short flight from Madrid and I love the region) and will stay there again and again. It was a perfect break away and next time will try to stay longer.

We visited the Mas du Magnolia at the end of September. Our room was lovely, with a very comfortable bed, beautiful bathroom and a French window onto the terrace and garden. We were made very welcome and the whole experience was very relaxing. The guest book was full of very satisfied customers too! It's a little pricey but well worth every penny.

We stayed at Mas du Magnolia for three nights as part of our honeymoon while travelling in Provence and had a fabulous time. It is beautifully set in finely manicured gardens, with a lovely pool and is just incredibly relaxing. The rooms are also lovely and luxurious - we stayed in Verdale and had our own private terrace as well and we were given bathrobes and slippers.

The house is set just outside Menerbes - definitely within walking distance, though up quite a steep hill. Menerbes is a lovely, lived in Provence village without being too touristy and the locals very welcoming and friendly when we dropped into the local bar.

The owners of Mas du Magnolia Pierrick and Mireille were warm and welcoming - and this is a very sociable place to stay and Pierrick very much enjoys being the host. We enjoyed this and met other guests, though I can imagine it may not be for everybody and some may find him a little too much. We thought he was great though, and he provided Champagne on finding out we were on honeymoon and set up the jacuzzi for us at midnight!

The breakfast was very good with lots of fresh fruit and berries, fresh bread and local jams and cheeses. Once again breakfast is quite a sociable occasio with everyone sitting round a large table. Mireille also cooked one night, and it was good, homemade food without being anything amazing.

Overall would definitely recommend Mas du Magnolia - very beautiful and relaxing. Enjoy!

The hosts, Pierrick and Mireille Drancourt made this an unforgettable holiday. The overall ambiance of the 'Mas' created a totally relaxed environment with everything you could wish for - rose wine, swimming pool and hot tub. Mireille offers excellent home cooked meals in addition to breakfast so long as they are ordered in advance. We highly recommend Le Mas de Magnolia!

Not sure why anyone would write a negative review of this place. This place was so beautiful, and based on what we saw in the other villages, one of the nicest too!

Property was very beautiful, great pool, lounge chairs, and all the sun and clean air you could possibly imagine. The owners were very nice, but there was a language barrier. They did their best to make you feel comfortable. Breakfast every morning included. Housekeeping and laundry for free. Big bedrooms with fairly comfortable beds made for a perfect stay.

This was an incredible value and we would return. Note: Most of the guests were older than us, not that it was a problem, but if you were looking to meet people on the younger side, this may not be the place for you.

What is the difference between a hotel and this chambres d'hote? "You are with friend" as the owner puts it. Wonderful atmosphere, fresh croissants, home made jam, private setting... a dream for the romantic, but not for the "I need room service 24h/7d with cable TV". No, you are in France on a rural, quite country side and forget time and worries. A place to really relax.

We stayed for one week while making our first visit to Provence. The location served us well as it was central for many of our day-trips throughout the region.

The room (Maulassene) was very nice. We had a large, comfortable bed, tons of closet space, and a very spacious (2 sinks) bathroom with a nice shower. There is also a semi-private terrace off the bedroom with views of the hilltop town of Menerbes (about a 20 minute walk). The complimentary laundry service comes in handy when you are travelling for a long period of time.

The grounds of the inn are nice as well. There is a small putting green, a decent sized inground pool, a poolhouse complete with cooking appliances, and plenty of space and chairs to lounge around with the three friendly golden retrievers that are always milling about.

Dinner is served Mon, Wed, and Fri for 30 Euros per person. This includes apertifs, wine, and a three course meal. We dined at the Inn twice and were very impressed with the wonderful food that was prepared both nights. An added bonus was the company of fellow travelers from other parts of the world (our stay included meeting couples from France, Italy, Switzerland, and...Idaho!).

The Innkeepers could not possibly have been more friendly. They speak very good English and were an absolute joy to meet. They also were very helpful in making dinner reservations and reccomendations at nearby restaurants, and they even were kind enough to call our rental car company to work out a snafu for us.

All in all we very much enjoyed our stay at the Mas du Magnolia thanks to its excellent location, well appointed rooms, beautiful setting, reasonable pricing, and of course its wonderful owners.
