When travelling in France it is hard to go wrong with Logis de France, especially those rated two stars. They are usually family-run and welcoming, with reasonable facilities and food which is good value for money . The Hotel Le Foch is no exception, in fact better than usual. Run by the very caring Nathalie who does front of house and Luc who prepares some very good food at a reasonable price, it is well above average for the Logis group. The room we stayed in was very large and clean with an excellent view of the quaint main square. Great for people watching.
On the Friday when the restaurant was closed, we ate at the Taverne Flamande opposite. This was a fun experience with good honest local fare and a host with a sense of humour that got drier as the night progressed.
Cassel itself is interesting enough to explore for a day and a good centre from which to see more of Flanders. There are plenty of walks in and around Cassel and a few coaches do visit for a day trip. It was especially pleasant sitting in the evening sun outside one of the local bars and watching the world go by.

Great hotel, great hosts and great food....................but the town can be a bit "quiet" if you just want to sit and have a few beers in the evening. Although it has to be said I was visiting in April

Found this lovely hotel quite by accident while touring the area, Had a wonderful stay there Nathelie and Luc were great hosts and the town was a great place to explore with the windmill on the top. We stayed on a Sunday so the restaurant at the hotel was closed but had a good meal at the restaurant opposite which was recommended by Nathelie would definitely stay there again.

We have stayed at Le Foch several times on our travels because it makes a sensible northern French stop for us living in north of Scotland. But now we stay there because Nathalie (and Luc) are so warm and welcoming. Rooms are individual and well thought out, and the restaurant is good value and excellent quality. I'm sure there are lots of repeat visitors here!

Front rooms can be noisy because of early morning traffic on cobbled streets.

But overall LE Foch is tres agreeable!

Cassel is well worth a visit in any case.
