“Very Dissapointing Experience!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed September 19, 2011

Having read the previous reviews I wondered had I stayed in the same place? We were unbelievably dissapointed with our stay here. The house is lovely and has fantastic amenities, swimming pool and lovely garden ( the dog/cat leavings on the grass were not pleasant or was the cat-pee smell and I am a cat and dog owner/lover)!! The accommodation is totally pleasant, however, there are no extras such as small toiletries or even a glass to have a drink of water in the room and anyone travelling with a budget airline will understand this requirement. The breakfasts are mean and the portions extremely small and ungenerous. The coffee was served in a thermos and was stewed and not refreshed when needed. The orange juice cheap, fruit salad in plastic containers (reminiscent of the 70's), the bread (often stale) was cut in small pieces). I can say the only good thing for breakfast were the croissants (one per person). The jam was cheap and nasty. The tea..... don't even go there - a heavy kettle supplied the luke-warm water for cheap nasty "Lipton's" tea bags. At all times we felt we were being watched "suspiciously". We felt unwelcome and intruding. The cost is the same as that charged by a superior 4 star hotel and to be honest you would be a lot better off in a 3 star hotel. They have a vinyard and we sampled a red which was very good and not expensive. To my mind this could be a fantastic place to stay with hosts who appreciate the little extras that make the difference.

We spent a few days in Pezenas and stayed at the Villa Juliette. Warm hostesses, very pleasant and informed. We highly recommend it.

We made our arrangements on the Internet from Ottawa Canada and following a long flight from Ottawa to Paris to Montpelier, we were pleased to arrive in Pezenas and find our accommodation at the Villa Juliette. We were welcomed by Marie and found our room to be just as we had anticipated. Clean and comfortable ... how do you beat that? Marie provided us with some recommendations for restaurants, and we were not disappointed in the choices made. Breakfasts in the garden were excellent. Good coffee, juice, bread, croissants etc etc were wonderful. Pezenas and the Villa Juliette were great places to start our vacatio9n in France .... if the next three weeks go as well, we will have had an outstanding vacation.

Several years we are going back to this place, we love Pezenas and this place is not really in the center, you can park your car inside and with only 2 minutes walk you're in the centre of a marvelous town.We go there partly because of antique buisness and a fair we are participating every year end of juin or beginning of july, after a busy day at fair it's very relaxing to have a swim and a little sleep in the beautifull garden and then in the evening have a nice walk and dinner in town or take the car to Bouzigues and have some delcious seefood. Since last year they are making their own wine, wich is delicious as well.
I'm already looking forward to our next visit!

Room Tip: all the rooms are ok, we had different rooms!

Great place....and as our hostess, Marie, commented, 'it's in the town' but 'not in it' ...!!
2 minutes from the town centre, but it felt like being in the countryside...Beautiful garden...with a tastefully-designed swimming pool.

Our room..La Boheme...was lovely with a big four-poster bed that encouraged a lazy time!

The house and its location were peaceful...and proved an ideal resting place after a hectic time in Montpellier.

Marie, whose English was as commendable as was her patience with our broken French, proved a friendly and welcoming presence and managed the house perfectly...leaving the garden to her husband Serge!

As our hosts were owners of a small vineyard, wine was a common theme and we had the treat of a wine-tasting with a charming French family (fellow guests)...orchestrated by Marie...and very tasty it was too!!

Our hosts were also very helpful with advice on local events (the 1st May Antiques Fair was a real treat), restaurants and walks.

We used Pezenas as a base for exploring the area.

Strongly recommended are the oysters and sea urchins (oursins) of Bouzigues.
A MUST VISIT is to the Chez La Tchepe where you order your shellfish at the shellfish counter and they are delivered to your table with a choice of excellent wine...Picpoul de Pinet being our favourite. ...and you must visit the flamingo-intensive lagoon to the East of the town.

Back in Pezenas, Le Pre St Jean is highly recommended for fine dining (without too much pretension or formality) and our fellow guests and wine-samplers recommended Le Poisson Verre for cheese and some of Serge's wine!

Also, don't miss St Guilhem le Desert to the North of Pezenas...a beautiful town, with lovely marked walks beyond ...of varying challenge. The riverside below the Pont du Diable is also worth a picnic.

We stayed at Villa Juliette for four days and really unwound....(don't miss the park over the road and the dancing swans).

Marie and Serge's home proved a wonderfully relaxing base and is highly recommended.

My wife an I duly arrived with the help of our sat nav. Pezenas is a lovely little town - quaint and charming. Villa Juliette did not disappoint. We were there for 6 days. Due to the lack of noise, it was difficult to realise that you are smack bang in the middle of town. Breakfast was taken in the garden every morning and we were blessed with fantastic weather. Our room was lovely - very comfortable bed and the shower was spot on as well. The water in the pool is a bit on the cold side but once you get in it's fine! Serge and Maria were wonderful hosts. Serge produces his own wine and at 7.50 euros a bottle it is a snip - and good as well! Their dog Achillies (a schnauzer) is a real personality. It is also a great base for visiting nearby towns. For the best seafood, avoid Sete and go to Bouzigues. It is nearer on quieter and the choice of restaurants is excellent.

My wife, daughter and I stayed in a suite of two rooms in the hotel which is situated within walking distance (2 minutes) of the town centre. In spite of its central location, the hotel and grounds are very private with garden and swimming pool next to a public park. One of the owners is a vigneron and sells his own wines on the premises as well as arranging tastings.

Breakfasts are good and the rooms tastefully decorated and spacious. On site secure parkin is also a major plus.

I am a tourism development consultant by profession and have nothing but praise for the welcoming atmosphere and quality of service and accommodation at a reasonable price.
