“Stylish Hotel, charming staff and welcoming ambience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 20, 2013

This was a delightful hotel. We were greeted by the staff who rushed to help with bags and were very welcoming. Escorted to our room and made to feel valued. The room was excellent, very good and spacious, neatly laid out and with a small kitchenette which meant that it was great of you wanted a night in to eat your own snacks. The bathroom was good.

The hotel is very close to the centre of the town and so its easy to wander around and then come back to the hotel. The swimming pool was fine - small and perfectly formed

Only a small grouse was the absence of free bottled water

A good place, well presented and welcoming.

Room Tip: a room at the front of the hotel is much better

We liked this stylish newish hotel in an old distillery building, stayed 2 nights in early July, just before Tour de France was due to pass through Pezenas. Some of the materials had been reused in the decor, which made it it a bit different, although the overall design effect was rather mixed.
The first best thing as far as we were concerned, as we had no car, was that the hotel is extremely (almost absurdly) easy both to see and get to from the bus station. The staff were very helpful, our room was large & well-equipped, with some food preparation facilities, big TV (never used it), wifi, a/c etc etc. Huge and very comfortable bed. Very good breakfast in the 'library' but we did not use the Brasserie, we arrived on a Monday when it was closed, and it was fully booked on the Tuesday night. Found an excellent restaurant from the receptionist's list though, not far away. There are spa facilities, at extra cost, which we did not use, but there is a nice little outside pool, which we did.
Highly recommended.

We stayed at La Distillerie in June 2013.

it was a brilliant find. The hotel is gorgeous, with incredibly friendly and welcoming staff. The rooms are excellent - the mini kitchen a really good touch - and the pool/exterior areas are really lovely.

The restaurant is great - a tad challenging if you don't speak French though! Worth persevering as the tomatoes in thyme were fantastic!

Only little issue was the entrance - the road to the hotel was being dug up and the deviation was extremely challenging! However the manager was incredibly nice to drive our car out!

We discovered the Distillerie last year, not long after it opened, and liked it so much that we decided to return this year, on both the outward and inward sections of our trip. Delighted we did so: the welcome was warm, the service pleasant and smiling (not a given in France), and our room was well-equipped and very comfortable, with a lovely large balcony which we were unfortunately unable to use due to torrential rain.... both ways! The room was also provided with a fridge, a kettle and some basic crockery/cutlery, very convenient. Bed comfortable, and bathroom excellent. Will certainly go back again.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 13, 2013

I stayed here for 2 nights 7th & 8th of May, and I was delighted with the place. I'd booked a "Tradition" room which was the cheapest, the room was large, well furnished and had the best bed I've ever had in a hotel (apart from a Sofitel!). Good, big bathroom with a walk in shower. Big plasma TV and excellent fast, free wifi. The staff were really friendly and wanted to chat - very unusual in France - so no complaints about the service. There is a bar/restaurant - I ate there one night, the food was simple but nicely cooked and well presented and quite good value for 25 euros in this type of hotel. Are there any downsides, well only that its a bit difficult to find and there's virtually no mobile signal (a common problem in small French towns), but I will def stay there again.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 8, 2013

After doing some research we settled on the Distillerie de Pezenas for a weekend break to celebrate a special anniversary. Pulling up at the car park/entrance, via a somewhat dusty narrow lane, we were greeted by a large, impressive building with a wide terrace and an assortment of attractive tables and chairs leading to the bistro and reception area. The receptionist immediately checked us in and our allocated accommodation was stunning; a very large bedroom with a kitchen area, a superb bathroom with walk in shower, two double French doors to a huge balcony complete with two loungers plus table and chairs. This was perfect as we had the sun from early morning until late afternoon enabling us to sunbathe if we so desired, rather than using the poolside. The bedroom remained cool as the windows were shaded with heavy wooden shutters which enabled us to keep the sunlight out during the hottest part of the day. The furnishings in the room were charming, quirky and a great deal of thought had obviously been given to the whole overall effect. An old Marconi radiogram, a vintage iron, a replica telephone handset , several old 78 gramophone records. This theme of vintage yet stylish decor ran throughout the hotel. The lounge area was stylish and comfortable as was the bistro. Each piece of furnishing and decor had obviously been chosen with great care. A very eclectic mix. The staff were very friendly, especially the wonderful, Lucy, who has lived in France for many years and really went out of her way to give us suggestions on places to visit and local attractions. We loved Pezenas and this hotel is perfectly situated in the town. It's just two minutes, via a small bridge, into the centre so far enough removed to avoid any noise yet near enough to enjoy all it has to offer. The vintage antique fair was there while we were in town which was amazing. We would love to return and will definitely stay at this hotel again. The small pool is perfect for a cooling dip and although the area around the pool is smallish, we found it suited us perfectly well.

Room Tip: We preferred the garden rooms, with large balconies with loungers not just table and chairs.

This is a stylish hotel with huge rooms. The staff are very friendly and members of our party enjoyed relaxing treatments in the spa - but don't bother paying the "day charge": the swimming pool is really just a large jacuzzi. However, our experience was not as good as it might have been. We arrived on the Wednesday after Easter and the first thing that we found was that the access to the hotel, which is to the side of a petrol station, was blocked by works being carried out to the roadway. Staff in the petrol station informed us of the only alternative route, which was extremely difficult. Also, on arrival we were told that the restaurant was closed so we had to make alternative arrangements (Brasserie du Midi reviewed elsewhere). An email in advance of our stay would have been appropriate to inform us of these things.
