We were staying locally at La Maison Pigioniere in the delightful village of Mont St Jean. There are no shops but there are 2 restaurants in the tiny town! Le Medieval is right in the middle of the village and offers traditional Burgundian cuisine. You will need a booking for a Wednesday night as the local guest house doesnt provide a formal dinner on that evening, so most guests come to this restaurant. We started with an entree of eggs in red wine and local foie gras, both were delicious. My partner had the duck fillet with foie gras and I had a cote de boeuf, served 'bleu' as I had requested. The duck was the best I had ever tried. the local Charolais cows are not only pretty to look at in the surrounding fields, they are very tasty. We chose a local Pinot Noir to complement the meal.
