“Wonderful”

This place is a must. From the service to the food you can not go wrong. It looks like its down an ally but it is a beautiful setting. Great prices for food and drink you can not go wrong.

“There's better places than here.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 11, 2013 via mobile

Started off well, a friendly hello and a hanshake on entering. Fairly nice place to sit and eat... then came the food. Horrible horrible horrible. Four meals and not one finished. Unless we were unlucky as other reviews are so good. After speaking to a few English locals they all told us to avoid The Hideaway. I would urge the same.

“not bad, food pretty good, bit quirky allround!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 1, 2013

nice welcome from the owner but didn't see him again after that. Food was good - simply prepared and simply served. Staff could be a bit more attentive but generally a good night out

“Lovely fresh food, friendly service.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 26, 2013

We stumbled upon this little gem but were concerned that there was only one other table occupied. However, we took the plunge and thankfully it paid off. We didn't have starters, I had the Stifado for mains which was beautiful - just needed a bit of seasoning. Others had pork kebab which was very tasty, Kleftiko which fell off the bone. Keo was served plus a selection of their beers. Price wise it is very reasonable, 50 euro all in for 4 mains, a few beers and soft drinks - a proper run family restaurant, I will be back before this holiday is up.

“Pleasant welcome, but food was average and service went down hill”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2013

The Hideaway was our second dining experience in Pissouri. It has a pleasant courtyard setting, set back down from the street, and the owner came up the steps to welcome us, shaking hands, a nice touch.
It was the usual choice of local dishes on the menu, and as stated in previous reviews, the restaurant has a charcoal grill for cooking meat, fish.
Following the warm greeting and ordering it went a bit down hill. I ordered fish, which was a generous portion, but dry. My wife ordered Chicken, which appeared to be a half chicken, oven cooked, reminiscent of the old chicken in a basket, tasteless and very dry. Chips, and uninspiring rice with overcooked vegetables accompanied the meat and fish. The village rose wine was really sharp, the worst we have had so far, and I have drank some rough Kokkinelli!
A couple of larger parties arrived, and they demanded a lot of focus, one group trying samples of various wines before choosing, in hindsight something we should have done. We did not receive any further attention from the owner or staff, as to whether we wanted more drinks, desserts, coffee or even enjoyed the meal.
We paid up and left as soon as we could attract the attention of staff.
I would not visit this taverna again, but in fairness I think it depends on what food you choose. The kebabs and meze food looked palatable on other diners plate, we just did not enjoy our choices or the experience.
