“Disappointed and flat”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 days ago NEW

We changed our booking to this hotel because it looked like it offered a five star hotel/resort experience. We were not attending a function so I cannot comment on that side.
The ATM machine didn't work from arrival on the Monday and still wasn't working the following Sunday. As we had just arrived from Europe this was an inconvenience but the fact that the receptionist didn't know where the nearest ATM turned it into an annoyance!
The rooms were large and clean enough inside but rather dated. I have seen replies to other comments that they are upgrading the rooms so perhaps we were unlucky. Our room overlooked the car park. On our second day the room wasn't cleaned.
One of the days we decided to stay and have lunch at the hotel but couldn't eat from the menu until 2pm because it was buffet day so we decided to go into Joondalup. A shuttle bus service was mentioned in the room info book, when we enquired we were told they did have a bus but only when staff were available, no one was available (surprise, surprise) so we took a cab.

On a positive note the setting of the hotel is lovely especially if you like golf. The Kangaroo Inn was welcoming and the barmaid was friendly and chatty. (Hours of business were strange to us)

All our concerns were passed on to the hotel at check out and we did receive a standard reply, much in line with the replies to many of the reviews which is fair enough but the management need to act on their 'promises' !!

Personally I wouldn't class this hotel with 4/5 unless it had Motel status! It is such a pity really because there is a potential for this hotel to really be outstanding until then I wouldn't stay here and would be unlikely to recommend it to friends or family

I stayed overnight with a friend after a Christmas party at the resort restaurant (which was a great venue too). It really felt like we'd gone away on holiday for the weekend and I am keen to do it again! Nice big room with two very comfortable queen beds, but the best bit is the beautiful surrounds. Lush tropical gardens and a lovely huge pool with lounges and shade really makes you feel like you've travelled to a beach holiday resort.. All 20 mins drive from home!

I stayed here overnight to attend our staff party that was being held at the resort through their Christmas Party Special. The Lakeview Ballroom is spectacular as a function room, well done to whoever signed off on the final plans! It was a shame that we had to keep waiting for the drinks bar at the front of the room to be topped up... I would have thought that could have been planned a little better for a function room that holds @400 thirsty diners! The food was okay given the large scale of numbers they were cooking for, and the night in general was very enjoyable. So well done for that.

The room... Well, it was only overnight, so I didn't bother mentioning anything at the time, but the bathroom in 127 really could do with a makeover. The tiles look old (unless that is the look of today's times??) and require replacing, and the soap holder in the shower was not even holding the soap! I also found that the pillows on both beds (even though I only needed one) were softer than melted butter, but maybe there is a pillow menu? Again, I didn't ask, so I am not throwing daggers here. Last but not least, the sliding door to the veranda was very sticky to the point where I couldn't work out how to open it the first time, until I gave it the big yank it needed! May have been an air pressure sort of 'stick', but happened each time I went and sat on the veranda.

Other than that, the rest of the room was very acceptable, with a more than suitably stocked mini bar, nice towels, bathrobes, good selection on TV, and easy to understand compendium of services in the book on the desk. Also plenty of storage space for clothing, etc., if you are there on a long stay.

Bistro 38 was also nice for a pre-party drink, overlooking the pool and the golf course beyond.

Last but not least, the service from all of the staff I came across was very, very good, which made the nearly 24 hours I had there very nice. The check out time of 11am is a very good touch also. Would I stay here again? Yep, no worries about that! It is overall a nice place to be, and only 20 odd minutes out of the city.

6 of us booked and attended the sunday lunch.on arrival it was apparent that the young manager couldnt cope.on trying to get some lunch nearly all the bowels were empty.and people were starting to complain.i approaches this young manager and voiced my frustration that he was allowing this service to continue.he seemed not concerned.i tried to get lunch twice after this and was waiting with other patrons in line for the food stuffs to be put out so in conclusion the experience i have shared with all my facebook friends is dont bother going there and wasting money go elsewere

We had a room overlooking the pool and gardens which was very nice. Rooms were large with 2 queen beds. Bathrooms very basic. No body wash or extras provided. Breakfast was adequate but the coffe was not to good and not hot. Lovely listening to the kookaburras in the morning as its getting light. Wifi was appalling. Unable to get a connection most of the time. Anyone would think we in the country

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the pool

Stayed here again on an overnight business trip. Have stayed here 3 times in the last two years.

The rooms have been recently renovated and modernized. It was well cleaned, fresh and spacious with a comfortable king bed and nice furnishings. Good sized work desk, although the chair was oddly low. Free wi-fi in the room and a well stocked mini bar.

The pool terrace bar was a great place to finish the day with an outdoor drink. Breakfast was very well done with a good selection of hot and cold foods, fresh fruits and juices. We did not dine in the restaurant nor use the spa and pool facilities as it was a work trip.

The resort has a great 27 hole golf course adjacent with a large practice range and pro shop. These courses rate extremely highly and are a joy to play with beautiful vistas. Look up the images; you won't be disappointed.
The resort has recently expanded its conference facilities as part of the makeover. Overall, a good place to stay, not too far from Perth CBD, and perfect for the golfer.

We stayed here for a wedding on Friday, 21 November. Upon check-in, we were advised we had to pay an additional $50 in case we consumed anything from the minibar. This was despite the fact we payed $100 deposit by credit card a good couple of months prior to the reserved night and also the remaining sum of $140 by credit card upon check-in. We were advised the $50 would be returned 5-7 days after check-out. Excuse me, but I know it is only $50, but when the resort is full and every room pays $50, who benefits from the interest earned on the $50? We were very disappointed about the $50 as this was not something that was mentioned to us upon initial booking of the room.
The room (133) was quite spacious, although a little dated. We know about it being dated as we seen the inside of a few other rooms of other wedding guests. Our bathroom door was two sliding louvered doors that came together in the middle with a hook latch to close it. The shower recess was absolutely filthy with dried on soap scum and goodness knows what else. You need more than elbow grease to clean it. A $5-$6 bottle of Easy-Off Bam Grime & Soap Scum is what I am suggesting you use, maybe 2-3 bottles for this shower.
The outdoor furniture could do with a brush over to get rid of cobwebs, spiders and their webs and generally keep the furniture dust free.
I never got the chance to say anything on the check-in day as I needed this time to get ready to attend the wedding. When we were checking out, we were never ask the minimal question of how was our stay, if I had of been asked, I would certainly have mentioned the bathroom.
On a brighter note. The food at the wedding was absolutely beautiful, credits to the chef and their team.
Check-out time is a very reasonable 11am.
