“Beautiful guest house with such a friendly, welcoming family”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 24, 2014

We loved this guest house, the family were so friendly and welcoming and we felt at home straight away. The setting is just beautiful, with a view on the waterfalls and the train passing through the hill in the distance - just magical! I would definitely recommend this place and would return tomorrow if I could! Thanks so much for an amazing end to our trip. Elle and Cedric from England and France

We only stayed three nights in February and we can highly recommend to stay with Kalani and her family. We are still dreaming of the served food (which was more than plenty by the way) and the magnificient view from the terrace. Kalani and her family are truly wonderful hosts and made us feel really relaxed during our stay. We would love to come back one day.

Thank you so much!

This was hands down the nicest place we stayed in Sri Lanka. We arrived in Ella without a reservation, and were lucky enough chance across this place. it's maybe a 10 minute tuk tuk ride away from the main strip, so if you're looking for quiet, this is definitely the place for you. Perched on the top of a hill overlooking a lush valley, we easily wiled away our evenings listening to the sound of the waterfalls and watching fireflies flit past. The rooms were spotlessly clean and comfortable, with mosquito nets and hot water, and I can not say enough good things about the host family. Super friendly, and amazing cooks. The Sri Lankan breakfast was the best of the trip (especially the curd and honey). The only downside of our stay is that we only had two days to spend at Waterfalls View. I hope to be back someday.

I too join the chorus of praise. Ella is suffering from over popularity so I was very relieved to find waterfall view was away from the dust and cement mixers in a quiet and local and very interesting vegetable growing area. Really delightful host family, mountains of good food, lovely textiles frequently changed in the room, sparkling bathroom with hot water and of course the view, the trains and the walks along the tracks. I stayed for 2 weeks and could easily have stayed longer. I was also happy to support the local initiative Good Neighbours - if WV is full, check the other options at their website which is very efficiently run.

We stayed at Waterfalls View last October. It was located about ten minutes from the town of Ella up a rough country road which went up and was quite steep. It was dark when we arrived so we did not know what the surrounding countryside looked like. We had not eaten but our hosts at Waterfalls View very kindly cooked us a delicious meal. In the morning we woke up to a amazing view of a waterfall straight across the valley from us.
It was a very peaceful stay here. We took lovely walks around Ella, went to the tea factory and a weaving factory. We always came back to a lovely dinner and breakfast was excellent too. More than plenty to eat and there was always a pot of tea. The room was plain with a bathroom but it was ample for us and clean. We ate outside on the deck in full view and sound of the waterfall. We also could watch the trains coming around the mountain from there which we really enjoyed.
Our hosts were two sisters, one whose name is Kalani and she is very sweet and helpful. We were going to stay for two nights but enjoyed it so much that we stayed for three. Definitely would stay here again. Thank you for such good hospitality.

Room Tip: There were just two rooms, both the same.

There really isn't anything bad I could say about my stay at Waterfalls View. It was such a magical setting, with a view of the waterfall which can't be beat.

My boyfriend and I stayed in one room that had a spacious bed big enough for two. Our friend stayed in the room next to us (at the time there were only two rooms).

The Homestay is up away from the main tourist strip, so it's really quiet and peaceful. The rooms are really clean and comfortable, with hot water and an outdoor eating/lounging area with big comfy chairs where you can sit and listen to nature, and gaze at the falls. We fell asleep to the soft rushing sound of the waterfall in the distance, and in the morning, woke up to an AMAZING Sri Lankan breakfast (you can choose between continental and Sri Lankan). it was so much food, I felt so bad that I couldn't eat all of it!.

The family that owns the place is so genuinely sweet and friendly. The really care if you enjoy your stay, and you totally will! I want to go back! <3

Room Tip: When I was there, I believe there were only two rooms (both right next to each other facing the fall...

This homestay was one of the highlights of my trip. Waterfall view costing 4000 SLR per night was worth every penny. Clean double bedroom with mosquito net and clean toilet. You can enjoy your meal sitting outside the common area with excellent views of waterfalls and super fast wifi. You also get the opportunity to befriend other guests. This place is good for lazing around like home. Food was delicious too. Breakfast is included with a choice between Sri Lankan and Continental. The quantity is just a way too much, most of the times we couldn't finish everything. For one person, vegetarian mean was about 350 SLR while for 2 ppl was 700. You should not miss this.

Highly recommended!
