“Old haveli style care”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 9, 2013

Stayed 2 nights at Haveli, excellent accommodations, great non vegetarian food, great location by the Ganges with personal ghat, great music in evening, excellent service, Manager Mr Sahini took great care. The hotel is a old 100 year haveli that has been renovated to 5 star lodgings. Parking is a car parks close to hotel with rickshaw drive to take you to haveli, with baggage, Haveli is situated in the inner part of Haridwar close to shops. Evening ghat tour organized by hotel. Will come again

This was a great hotel, the best atmosphere of all the hotels we stayed in on our month long trip around India. Authentic live music played at night, really set a great mood. The back of the hotel opened onto the ganga river, great for a quick dip or as we did, just wet the hands, feet and face, too chicken for a full dip in winter haha. Also loved the little alley ways and shops right on your door step, very well lit up at night, felt safer than a lot of other places to venture out at night. Highly recommend for anyone from singles, couples to families.

Room Tip: if you could get one the rooms at the back of the hotel your room would open facing the ganges river...

The hotel was excellent and provided a magnificent service. The food was superb and individual requests were taken into account. I would definitely stay again. Also the hotel has a private ghat for bathing.

Thank you to the kind loving staff, amazing food, above and beyond service and care... I was welcomed like a sister and treated like a queen. Traveling solo and releasing a loved one into the Ganga...it was the perfect place for quiet, support and love. Gratitude to Krishna, Ashok, the boys in the restaurant, the chef, and the massage therapists. I will return next year most certainly. Stay is priceless. Rooms are gorgeous. namaste.

HHG has friendly and helpful staff and the rooms are spacious and high quality. Very comfortable. Reception staff are on hand to make your stay memorable. The hotel has plenty of character and is ideally situated near the ghat. Kirtan in the evening is a cultural bonus. The dining room provides a very tempting arraignment of high quality Indian food. Service is prompt, beds comfortable. Situated at the beginning of the bazzar stretch there are plenty of sights, gifts and sounds to entice. Comfortable relaxation areas over looking the Ganges offer respite from a busy day. It's solid reputation is well deserved and I would recommend a stay.

Room Tip: None at this time.

This haveli is in a fantastic location right on the Ganges. It is a bit hard to find, being located in the middle of a market area and you have to be collected from your car by hotel rickshaw.

The staff were all excellent and friendly, restaurant food was very good. Room facilities were excellent, heritage of course but well maintained and functional. Our room was not river facing, but it was spacious and clean. Our only criticism was that the pillows were old and a bit musty - these should really be replaced. It was a little dark as the windows just faced the inner courtyard, but that wasn't an issue.

There is a very nice terrace overlooking the river where guests can sit, and the private bathing ghat is fenced so you can take a dip/paddle in the fast flowing water in safety. Note, the water (and wind) is VERY cold in winter.

The hotel organises a guided walk (free) to the aarti every evening, which is definitely worth going to (much better than the one at Varanasi in our opinion).

We would definitely stay here again if we return to this area.

I just spent two nights at the Haveli Hari Ganga after many recommendations. Everything was very smooth from the beginning and the staff were attentive and helpful, but never overbearing. The location and facilities are excellent. It was so wonderful to have a private ghat so I was able to take a dip in the Ganga after a wonderful massage treatment in the spa followed by a steam bath. I was able to practice yoga in the yoga room metres away from the flowing Ganga- perfect! The food was very delicious and fresh, and the coffee also very good. I also loved the live evening bhajans. I had a Ganga facing room which was great, the only criticism being that all of my windows opened onto public areas so I couldn't get as much light in the room as I wanted. But there were many places to sit and take in the view and some sunshine while relaxing, so I didn't really want to spend too much time in the room anyway. Also it is very worthwhile to take a walk outside the hotel on the paths by the Ganga and through the bazaar- you won't spot many other tourists, if any!
Thanks so much also to Krishna who was kind enough to accompany me to the temple closeby. I am also grateful that I was allowed a late check out before my evening train ride since my room wasn't booked. Thank you to all of the staff for making my visit to Haridwar a very relaxing and memorable one!
