We chose this place because of the sushi and japanese home cooking, and we were not disapointed in this respect, the food was really excellent, though sometimes we had to wait a long time to get it, but of course this is Africa, so pole pole!
The sea front garden is big and very shady, really important for us because we have small children, there are plenty of little funny crabs, my daughter had so much fun with them.
There are lots of cats around and a couple of dogs as well, for those who mind.
The staff is very friendly and helpful.
The rooms were not as good as we expected though, they would need some painting at least... mosquito nets were also old and had many holes, we had to put some tape. The fan was too small and didn''t give much air, and it is very hot at night, pity the windows are not bigger, because there is always a nice breeze blowing from the ocean and if they were I think it wouldn't be so hot and we wouldn't really need the fan so badly, especially taking into account the frequent power cuts! (But this seems to be a problem everywhere on the island).
The bungalows with rooftop terrace are more expensive but actually we found the cheaper ones to be better (we stayed in both) because they are closer to the ocean and it is not so hot inside, and the terrace is finally not too useful, there are so many trees around that there is hardly anything to see from it and you are more comfortable on the hammocks in the garden.
The environment is wonderful, the beach is beautiful, it seems to be one of the less developed in Zanzibar, so there aren't too many tourists and it is very colourful with the local women growing and harvesting seeweed. It is also very good for watersports, a 15 minute walk towards Paje village and there are a couple of diving and kitesurfing places.
