“Relaxing and friendly atmosphere!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 7, 2015

Position is top, just on one of the best beaches of the island.
Management is local, don't ask a teutonic efficiency, just have a drink and relax!
Staff is very friendly, they do their best to help you and thanks to this the atmosphere is very positive, easy and perfect for meeting a lot of nice people from all over the world.
Breakfast is ok, so is the food at the restaurant. Bungalows are spacious but very basic, that's why i gave "only" 4balls. Cleanliness is ok, considering african standards.
Very nice place, i would be happy to return!

I came to Zanzibar for first time and without any program. I only had a tel of Angel (a tour operator) which a friend from Arusha gave to me. Angel welcome me at the Ferry arrival and she really send me to Paradise! After an hour drive i arrived at Evergreen Bungalows and i couldn't believe my eyes! It was what i was dreaming...A beautifully arranged Garden, Palm trees wright on the beach,a very nice Bar Restaurant, bungalows nicely arranged and beautifully decorated and to my suprice a Diving School Wright there! But above all a very nice manager and fantastic and very friendly Staff! One day relaxed on the endless white beach, line on the hammag or having a drink on the beach...Total enjoyment! Food is very good and fresh and the service excellent! While there i Went Diving with African Blue Divers which have the school inside the premises. Absolute processionals and Great Diving! You can also go Snorkeling to the Reef with them.

Evergreen Bungalows is the best place in Zanzibar if you want to relax, break away from the crowd, travel with your family in front of the ocean.
It is managed by Louis who is very kind and helful. There is a restaurant within the hotel.

The Evergreen Bungalows in Bwejuu are a really great place to stay. Situated 10m away from the beach and waterfront you get a excellent accommodation with a great service to a modest and fair price. I can really recommend it!

Room Tip: All are great!

The place has massive potential and seems to be perfect on first sight. Beautiful beach location, nice traditional looking architecture (beach bandas) and many places to sit and hang out. The welcome was warm, when one staff showed us to our room.
We had the first bungalow near the dining area (king size) and stayed in the appartment on top. First impression: dark and windy. The first impression became the dominating impression after one night. Add to that a bed, that is OK if it was 20 bucks and here you have the Evergreen experience. We were really cold during the night, as the wind blows powerfully from the sea through all the holes and gaps in the wooden walls. The cover and the synthetic blanket only provided insufficient cover.
Worst was that under our moskito-net there were a colony of at least 15-20 moskitos, which we had to kill one by one during the night. It was annoying and did not let us sleep. In the next place we stayed staff sprayed in the rooms to avoid this. The bed mattrass was rotten and did not fit the wooden frame. They had filled the gap with a wrecked piece of foam plastic: nasty and maybe a reason for the moskito invasion. The bathroom, was no extra room, but part of the main room, only seperated with curtains, which offers very little privacy to users.
Concusion: for USD 80 you get something worth USD 20, but even then I would find it uncomfortable to stay there. We had planned to stay for a week, but left for Bellevue B&B after one night. Later we heard that management had changed half a year ago. It seems that this did not do the place well.
