“The perfect, most idyllic holiday...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 1, 2013 via mobile

This is a magical resort. We were constantly amazed by the luxury of it all: beautiful rooms, paradise views, food better than anything we've tasted, impeccable service, extremely clean, and the most welcoming, relaxing atmosphere. Reading back on the reviews I can't believe that someone gave this place 2 stars! Things must have changed since then as nothing makes sense in what they have written.
This place is a dream come true. Wonderful.

This was one of the most relaxing and lovely places we've stayed. Very personal, good service - everyone has a personal daybed right on the stunning beach. Gorgeous, calming bungalows. The food was superb- what I would expect in a London 5*/Michelin starred place. In fact, we had one of the best meals we have ever had here (duck spring rolls, lobster). The wines were extremely well-chosen for the night's menus, and the dining room is atmospheric at night. The property is intimate, though- which we loved, as you are never more than a quick walk to the beach, pool, dining area, etc- but for those who like space and a more "resort" feel or are younger honeymooners (and need less emphasis on service), Baraza next door might suit better.

I recently stayed at this beautiful resort and found the resort enchating and the staff unbelievably nice. I had a late arrival and I was greeted warmly and asked what they could do for my dinner even though it was 10 pm. I asked for cheese and they made up a beautiful platter for me.

The chef, from airobi, was phenomenal and the presentation beautiful. There were many activities to choose from but it was hard to leave the beautiful pool or the wonderfuland privatebeachcabana.

I highly recommend this resort for anyone who wants beauty, culture and privacy.

Room Tip: I suggest the Jasmine or Clove villas for their location close to the pool

It doesn't seem enough just to concur with what has been previously written, this is a truly remarkable place. We went to the Palms to celebrate our Silver Wedding Anniversary and were made to feel so special. Even as we arrived after the Nairobi airport had, in part burnt down, we were met with a feast in our villa. My wife was not feeling very well and the manager suggested a clear soup and even though it was past midnight, one duly appeared freshly prepared some 10 minutes later! We could not say enough about the manager, but we should also mention all the other staff who went out of their way to make us feel very special, even preparing a wonderful lunch on the beach and providing a complementary trip to the spa. We were allowed to use the facilities of the two sister hotels, but why would you when The Palms was so wonderful! Thank you so much for making us feel extremely special!!

Room Tip: The villas are all exceptional!

We went to the Palms in Zanzibar as a last minute thing and didn't know what to expect. It proved to be absolutely terrific. It's intimate with just a few villas but the service and food is extraordinary. It's affiliated with the hotels on both sides so there are extra activities but it's really ideal for rest and relaxation. We highly recommend it on all fronts, particularly from a service and support perspective.

We stayed in The Palms in Zanzibar for 8 nights from 7th June until 15th June 2013 for our honeymoon. It was the most memorable holiday experience we have ever had! From the moment we arrived to the moment we left we were treated like a king and queen. Nothing was overlooked, the attention to detail was incredible.

Siriac, the manager, greeted us on arrival, gave us a freshly made cocktail and gave us an overview of the resort and what to expect. I have to say every hotel should have a manager like Siriac in their business – my wife coined it best by saying ‘they should send hotel managers from around the world here so that Siriac can show them how it is supposed to done’. Siriac has this strange knack of being everywhere but was never intrusive. He is friendly and has a great way with dealing with his guests. We have never ever experienced this level of service anywhere else (and we have travelled extensively)!

Siriac’s impeccable level of service was reflected in every single staff member we met. The wait staff were unfailingly friendly, helpful and made you feel as if you were home.

The place itself is the stuff of dreams – there are only 6 villas all of which are within 15 metres from the pristine beach. We were only supposed to be staying in the Palms for 3 nights and were then meant to move to Baraza (sister resort next door) for the remaining 5 nights but in short we simply couldn’t move from The Palms because it was just at a completely different level to anywhere else. The place is so small that it felt like home and we got to know each staff member really well. Luckily we were able to rearrange and stay on there for the full 8 nights – best decision we ever made!

The FOOD is unbelievable - it is as close to Michelin star quality that you can get (and we’ve eaten in many Michelin restaurants). The chef, William clearly has a talent which he has developed over many years. The seafood was the best we have ever eaten; it was freshly caught each day from fishermen operating just a couple hundred metres down the beach. We ate fresh lobster at some point every day – it was simply delicious. We looked forward to every meal as it was always exciting, inventive and unforgettable. Chef William also put on a cooking demonstration one lunch time which was really interesting. He is so friendly and, when I said I was a keen cook and jokingly said I’d love some of his recipes, he obliged! At dinner that night, Siriac handed us some printed off recipes for one or two of our favourite sauces and dishes.

Each evening beautiful complimentary sun-downers were delivered to our villa – a different tropical cocktail and accompanying appetizer each day. This, we decided, was a life we could get used to! Even now, a couple of months later, we often turn to one another in the evening and say ‘I wonder what tonight’s sun-downer will be!’ Ah, the memory of it!

Our villa (Cinnamon) was beautiful, everything that you could need and more – plunge pool, bar, complementary bubbly on arrival, double bathroom and so on. One of the best aspects of our stay was the fact that each villa had a dedicated beach-hut with double-bed (perfect if you wanted a break from the sun) and sun loungers – all within 10 metres of the beach and with no buildings to block the incredible view. No more getting up early to put your beach towels in order to claim the sun loungers for the day!

Every morning after we went to lie down on our sun loungers, within a few minutes, as if by magic, a member of staff would appear with ice cold bottles of water and cool face towels…a little while later, we would be offered freshly made fruit juice (such as fresh coconut juice served right from the shell!)

I know this review is far too long, but even this fails to capture how incredible our time at The Palms was. We’ve stayed in many 4 or 5 star hotels, but The Palms was a place like no other. We hope we will return some day for an anniversary trip – thank you again to Siriac and all his team who made our honeymoon the experience of a lifetime. We will never forget our chats with you or your kindness.

Room Tip: All the villas are good.

If you're fortunate enough to be able to book one of the 6 villas at The Palms do so. Should you ever want to feel as if you're living live in the pages of a travel brochure this is the place to be. Perfection reigns.
Is it expensive? Yes.
Is it worth it? ABSOLUTELY!!!
