“Perfect honeymoon”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 23, 2012

We arrived at this gorgeous hotel complex after a fabulous safari. The hotel is family owned and we couldn't fault it. The venue is well maintained and we were lucky enough to have a fabulous suite. As honeymooners we also got a few freebies including a 'night under the stars' where housekeeping set up a bed and mozzie net outside on our terrace surrounded by candles. It was beautiful. The hotel has a lovely setting being right on the beach but there is also a pool is you don't like swimming in the sea. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone. The only fault (but it's minor) are the staff a very quick to take your plate away after you finish eating. Sometimes you haven't finished chewing and your plate gets whipped away from you. They were just too effifcient. Other than that the staff couldn't do enough for you. We had a truely magical time.

Room Tip: A suite has it's own private terrace with sunbeds.

This is a Gorgeous place owned by the Raguz family, starting from the reception all the way through the staff are very friendly and seem keen to ensure you have the best time there. upon arrival we were greeted with fresh juice and cold towels which refreshed us since it was a very hot day.

In the room we found a complimentary bottle of champagne and a fruitplater. The rooms are large, decorated in ivory tones with huge beds, tea /coffee making facilities , hair dryer , lovely bathroom amenities and crisp towels.

The hotel was celebrating its 15th Anniversary the night we were there, all the guests were invited to a cocktail party followed by a gala dinner there after. Fifteen years ago, the Raguz family began transforming this remote corner of Bwejuu beach and today the resort is a sophisticated, magnificent tribute to Zanzibar's bygone era of luxury.

Extremely fresh & Fantastic food. They had also planned a surprise sundowner for us that day which was served in our room , it included bite size assorted bitings with a glass of wine.

They have a lovely pool where we spent most of our time, lunch served at the pool bar is extremely fresh and tasty as well, the portions are big enough for 2 people to share. Ashley & Alex of the Rising Sun Dive Centre were letting guests try FREE scuba diving in the pool so we enjoyed that as well.

the property also has an outstanding spa called the frangipani with therapists from Thailand & Bali .

The hotel has come a long way since it opened when it used to take 3 hours to get there from stonetown that means a round trip to the hotel in 1990s would be 6 hours drive....since then they have accomplished opening 2 more properties the Palms which is next door to Breezes and the Baraza which is next to the Palms, all 3 properties together are called the ZANZIBAR COLLECTION. Congratulations for the accomplishment & we wish you many many more anniversaries.

If you wish to be pampered in a fantastic setting & a beautiful beach than go to Breezes, you will be happy you did

We would like to thank the entire team of Breezes for making our stay a memorable one. We will definately be back.

We stayed at Breezes for four nights after a safari. It is a superb hotel where the staff do everything to make you comfortable. It is right next to the beach with views across the lagoon. It has a great swimming pool in the centre of the hotel. The rooms are large with huge double beds and good bathrooms. Our only complaint was that we found some mosquitos lingering in our bathroom and cloakroom. We would suggest that you spray these areas every evening. The food is excellent with superb barbecues and buffets. The hotel has a watersports centre with very friendly staff, and we went on snorkelling and catermeran trips. We would love to go back to this hotel again anoter year.

I really liked Breezes. We were welcomed on arrival by the manager which was a nice touch. Although we had arrived after 10pm they had kept the dinning room open and served us a lovely meal. We weren't expecting this and it was indicative of the service they provided.

Rooms are spacious and decorated very nicely. We had a sea view deluxe room and I have no complaints.

The pool is very nice, comfy loungers and plenty of them. Sitting on the beach based lounges you get a nice breeze.

You have to sign beach towels in and out - can't quite work out the point of this to be honest as many people left them on loungers but it wasn't too much of an inconvenience.

The food was far better than we had hoped. Breakfast is a buffet, everything you need. Lunch can be taken in the pool bar or restuarant - both were really nice and they had a good choice. For evening meals t hey do a really nice mix of buffet one night and al a carte the next. This makes a nice change to buffet hotels. The food was really good on all nights. We were full board and this was really good value.

The staff are really nice, very smiley and attentive and they have obviously been trained well. We found they really added to the resort.

We didn't use the dive centre or the water sports. We booked a snorkel trip through Mr Azziz (mentioned in other reviews, turn left out of hotel down the beach and first shop you come to after 2nd volleyball net) for half the price of the hotel and it was fabulous. We also just booked a taxi to stonetown and walked around rather than do a trip. If you go to Stonetown pop into Lazuli for lunch - it's worth it (listed on TA as #1)

The wifi seems to have been reduce in price, they now do a half day for $5 which is 4pm until 9am the next day. To be honest for the number of times people grumble about it on here I have no idea why they don't just make it free and be done with it. They can't be making much money off it and it would get rid of most negative comments.

The mix of people was really nice, lots of nationalities (English, German, French, Italian, Canadian in the main) and no one in the majority which is always nice. Although there are quite a few honeymoon couples here it's not dominated. Lots of different types of ages and groups and hardly any children (4 during our 9 day stay).

The hotel try hard to put on entertainment in the evening. Most nights have a band at dinner or similar but the resort does seem to go to sleep straight after dinner. It was unusual to see more than 6 people in the bar after 10:30pm.

All in all a fabulous place to completely relax.

Room Tip: Sea view rooms really make the difference (1-4 and 7-10 for delux I think)

From the first day this resort provided the very best and more to make my stay thoroughly memorable. The staff were on hand at all times and presented themselves so professionally. This was the ultimate in experiencing paradise! The room was comfotable and adequately catered for my needs. The food was varied, plenty and of a very high quality. I will never forget the head waiter Mustapha and his sister. They went the extra mile to provide me with the culinary delights of my childhood which was spent in Dar es Salaam. This was on the day I was leaving. Lunch consisted of a curried fish (chango) that they had landed that morning. (Mustapha, your sister and all the staff are a great credit to the hotel). You all deserve an award. Your warmth, hospitality and care surpasses anything that I have experienced before. My heartfelt thanks to you all.

Room Tip: my room was number 14 and it was perfectly located

We had an eight day stay here and it was absolutely lovely. The staff are all so very helpful. Always smiling and nothing seems to be too much trouble for them. The rooms are clean, light and airy. We stayed Bed Breakfast and evening meal. There was low key entertainment nearly every evening with local music and dancers etc. if you didn't want to watch or listen you could move into a bar or just sit in the centre room with its long sofas and chairs and just chill. The restaurant had a different theme each night and it was impressive how much attention was paid to the detail in ensuring the atmosphere was just right. We went on a visit to Stone town and thoroughly enjoyed the bustle there and it was great to come back and take a dip in the Indian Ocean to finish the day. This is a lovely hotel which I would highly recommend.

We have just returned from our wonderful honeymoon in Tanzania and Zanzibar and we spent our last week at the Breezes, it was a fantastic stay from A to Z: a unique location, a professional and friendly staff, excellent food from breakfasy to dinner, great beach, super manager and very nice room with special attentions for us upon arrival. My husband and I are massage fans and the spa at Breezes has a very high quality of masseuses. We highly recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Room number 1 is great!
