“This is paradise a perfect spot for rest and contemplation by the sea”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 20, 2011

We had 5 wonderful days here. It is not fancy but this place really has an excellent rustic charm and a very special atmosphere . Excellent food, nice clean rooms and bathrooms, fresch garden and you are 5 steps from the empty beach perfect for loooong walks. Everything is well taken care of by the wonderful, hardworking and very sweet staff. We would love to come back for a retreat in paradise. Thank you and good luck with business to Susan and Frederico

We spent four nights at Sun and Seaview Bungalows to relax on the beach after our Kilimanjaro climb and safari. We had a fantastic time in Zanzibar and I have nothing negative to say about the hotel. The staff are very friendly and helpful, the food is very good, the beach is beautiful and the bungalows are perfectly adequate. We walked along the beach towards Bejuu and Paje and concluded that the hotel was the best and most pleasant on this stretch of the coast - better than some of the more expensive ones we saw!

We have spent a total of 16 nights at Sun & Seaview and this place has really grown to something very special. The location is remote enough to have an unspoiled paradise experience. Can surely be compared to Seychelles. Its 30 mins walk from the busier beach of Paje, but since there isn´t a real touristic village, the walk along the beach is inspiring. The atmosphere of this resort is very romantic and it has a very beautiful palm tree garden and the bungalows are all only 10 m of the beach. You fall asleep by the a gentle sound of shore break. The resort is run by Susan and Frederico, who make one feel very welcome and all staff is very hostile - altogether a very family like atmosphere.

The restaurant has excellent food and a great variety. All food its cooked freshly and availability varies. So, remember (and thats everywhere the same) to ask for availability and to go early enough, since the wait can be over an hour if a restaurant is busy. Or even better, just order your food in advance for the desired time.

The rooms are in good condition, very well cleaned daily and are absolutely insect proof! Although there hardly were any insects or mosquitos.

There is a mosque nearby that also has night service for a few minutes, but remember its a muslim country and that is part of the culture. It made the overall atmosphere very special for us.

Susan and Frederico are very helpful when it comes to getting bike, motorcycles or even a car. Or even tours to Stonetown. About 30 mins down the beach by walk, or 10 by bike there are several kitesurf centres, where it can be quite busy on the water and on the beach. kiting in front of Sun&Seaviw is not recommended due to many seaweed farms with dangerous sticks. Its is however possible to kite further out in the lagoon.

We have been around southern Zanzibar and during our stay did not see anything that we liked better.

My gf and I stayed only one night.
After that we asked half the money back (initially 5 nights) and went to Zanzibar retreat hotel.

+ secluded beach
+ decent size room
+ bathtub
+ food is ok

- pine trees on the beach
- price/value high
- mosque at 50 meters, (prayer at 4/5 at night, awakes you)
- to little personal
- gardens not well maintained.

Conclusion, if you want to spend arround 75 dollars a night, search somewhere else.

We had planned to spend just one week in Zanzibar and were looking for a
nice remote beach accomodation away from the crowds after the World Cup in
freezy South Africa.

When we arrived in Zanizibar however, it turned out that the hotel where we had a reservation wasn't what we expected, a quick search, and Sun and Seaview was exactly what we hoped for our holiday.

To make a long story short, our one week holiday turned into three weeks. The staff were warm and great, the remoteness and quiet charming, the ocean was awesome and the bungalows comfy enough.

Perhaps another trip might be in the offing, its tempting enough

Great holidays in a beautiful place! If you are looking for quiet and relaxing holidays - this is the place to go! Comfortable rooms (no luxury but all what you need), private beach & amazing ocean with hundreds of different colours during the day. From the first glance - it looks like a paradise and after 9 days of staying there - we can honestly say - it was a paradise!!! Great service (amazing guys very caring for you and taking seriously your every wish) & good food, however food I would say is one thing that was a bit surprising. We expected plenty of seafood, perfectly done but actually the best dishes were the Italian ones not local ones as the owner comes from Italy :). Nevertheless we enjoyed a lot and you must try risotto or past with seafood :). No rush here, just 10 rooms, detached from crowded Paje beach that made our stay great & almost like a private one. Enjoy! PS. When you wrote to them to check availability, they were the only ones who wrote back within 1 hour! Client oriented team!

If you want a relaxing holiday with your family or friends I think this place is the place to go. When you go out of your bungalow the beach is only a few steps away. The blue water, the white sand and the beauiful palmtrees really do look like paradise.

My friend and I stayed at Sun and Seaview for nine days. The beach, the bungalows and the people there are sooo nice! The food is also great and we enjoyed every meal there :) The service is incredibly friendly and all in all our vacation there was just wonderful...
