“My second home.”

This is by far the best resort I ever stayed at in Tanzania. I have been here 10 -12 times and I am always happy to be back. You feel welcome from the time you check in till you check out.
Management and staff are making sure you feel welcome and they are all doing their best to ensure that you have a wonderful stay.
The rooms are great with everything you need (large canopy bed, mini bar, A/C, fan, TV with satellite channels etc.).
All meals are great and in the evening there is a special theme dinner at different locations at the resort. For weddings, birthdays etc. they make special arrangements (birthday cake carried into the restaurant by staff singing for you etc.).
If you want to be by yourself for dinner at the beach - they will fix that you for you with flowers, candlelight etc.
There are two great pools plus one for children and they are always kept clean.
There is a special room with toys, games etc. and staff to entertain and play with your kids.
There is a well equipped gym, pool and table tennis tables, water polo etc.
Occasionally you are invited for drinks etc. with the management.
The white beach is excellent and always kept clean and the maasai warriors make sure you are safe.
This is a great place to go for holiday or just a weekend getaway.

I spend a week with my girlfriend at this beautiful establishment. The rooms looked great and the different themed dinners tasted delicious. The kind and helpful staff, the large pool and stunning white beach made our stay unforgettable.
We also tried kite surfing for the first time, which quickly became our newest hobby.

Special thanks to the management and staff for helping make our stay perfect!

This hotel combines a wonderful beach location on the quieter east coast of the main Zanzibar island with good food, excellent, friendly service across all functions, hard working staff, cleanliness and security. Comfortable, large beds, aircon wherever needed - really can't fault the place. We took the opportunity of doing a little travelling around the island (Stone Town, Spice Tour and the south end) - while these are much to be recommended, we would have been perfectly happy staying in the hotel for the whole week. Well done to all concerned and thanks for a great stay.

We attended a wedding at Bluebay in June. We could not have asked for a more beautiful location. The staff were extremely obliging and could not do enough to help with looking after my 18 month old. The whole team especially the food and beverage manager, hospitality manager, waiting staff, domestic staff were great at organising all the events. We did not have much to do with the General Manager but he was not particularly endearing.
The food was delicious and they had gone to the trouble of ensuring there were enough vegetarian options for our party by hiring a chef from a different hotel in Zanzibar town.
I had my doubts about going to Bluebay after reading some of the reviews but can wholeheartedly recommend the resort for couples, families, groups as there is something for everyone.

Fantastic location on the most beautiful beach, spacious and confortable rooms, good food and facilities and great service...what more to ask for?

Special thanks to the very friendly and professional management (the director is certainly not an Afrikaaner as mentioned in a comment below).

This place is hugely overrated. I wasn't going to be picky with a Tanzaninan hotel, but this one deserves to be picked on. Right from the start the service was terrible. Our baggage was left at the reception to be brought by the staff, while we marched to the most remote villa on the premises. When after half an hour of waiting, sweat, and without being able to take a shower because I didn't have clothes to change the baggage didn't arrive, I went down to the reception to pick it up myself. In the meantime I tried to call the reception to inquire about it, but the phone was dead. So was also the safe deposit box, which the previous occupants left coded with their own code, and that wasn't cheched before the new arrival. When I finally got down to the reception to complain about it, the lady at the reception was arrogant and not at all friendly, and it took two more complaints and ages to repair the deposit box, while the phone was sorted out only the day after. The room itself was big and comfortabe enough, but far from clean: especially the shower-room needed some good scrubing, and the sheets were stained at places. There was also dirt hanging from a certain spot at the curtain, even though the curtain was pulled every day by the room-maid, and this was very visible. I won't complain about the gecko that was lodging in the curtains because I like geckos, but some maybe don't. Since the villa was far from the beach and the main building, I had to pass by some shrubs every day, and those grounds were full of garbage (empty plastic bottles and and all sorts of other rubbish), and so was the beach at the low tide (twice a day). When I complained about this I heard that the local stuff dreads snakes in the shrubs (that's why they aren't cleaned), but that didn't explain why the plastic bottles are being thrown in the shrubs in the first place. On the bright side the food was good and the restaurant mannager very friendly (so were also most of the waitors and waitresses), and the spa treatments by a thai girl were excellent, but then again, the price of an espresso coffee for example was outrageous. All in all, unless some serious improvement takes place, there is absolutely no reason why you should choose this place over so many others along the same strech of coast.
