“Swimming and feeding turtles”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 9, 2014

This was one of the highlights of our trip and we thoroughly enjoyed the experience(even if they did nibble at us a little). i can highly recommend going there, it is a very quaint natural"aquarium" that is linked to the ocean(best to go at hi tide). You get to swim with these gentle giants, +-20 of them in various stages of growth from 30cm to a whopping 1.5m as well as some fish. You get to feed them seaweed but be warned those beaks are sharp but those alluring eyes ask for forgiveness immediately after the "accidental nip".
Be warned there are two "aquariums" next to each other the one does not allow you to swim with the turtles make sure you insist on the other one for full turtle satisfaction as our "taxi" tried to get us to the cheaper one for more mulla for him. Definetly worth the $15 we paid including the 20min ride from Nungwi Hideway hotel.

“Very disappointing”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed May 29, 2014

There did not seem to be a lot of real conservation going on here and the staff we spoke to were not clear on release, concerning talk of buying from fisherman, which I would imagine encourages capture of these creatures from the wild

Nice to see how the local community is trying to support nature. A nice and easy 30 minute visit well worth it and not to expensive. Keep it in shillings and you are safe. Good job guys and girls.

“Excellent local initiative...turtles”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 28, 2014

Don't negotiate on the entrance fee...these guys need every Shilling to run this project. It's a quite basic natural aquarium where Duli and his colleagues treat and help turtles to increase in population in the area. The knowledge of the staff is amazing. The project is also supported in small scale by volunteers / practicants from Germany and Sweden which seems to do also some kind of fund-raising. It's really worth while seeing and supporting the Mnarani Marine Turtles...but don't expect a Florida like Marinepark...it's Africa
