As any person really enjoyed looking and feeding turtles but I am not sure if "conservation" is the real aim of this establishment. Its very hard to judge these days as everyone brands themselves eco friendly etc. but to my naked eye conditions that these turtles are kept I would not describe as happy ! I would not visit again personally.

Really interesting visit, the staff were very informative & keen to share the history & intentions of the sanctuary, we also got to feed the turtles.

Sure, they've got a load of turtles in there, but the water doesn't look the cleanest and I wasn't entirely convinced that they do actually release the turtles back in to the wild. If it's a genuine conservation and rescue centre then full credit to them and it deserves a higher rating. If it's a zoo exhibit, then not happy being conned.

At the beginning please watch there are 2 aquariums in Nungwi. One just by the beach near lighthouse- Nungwi conservation pond the the second one Baracka Aquarium. Go to the first one and avoid the other. You will get your own guide including the price. You will have a possibility to learn a lot about the see turtles and aven feed them. It is interesting that they try over there to save those amazing animals.
