Hi All , well my wife and i along with another couple tackled our second fishing trip to Gamefish Lodge in April 2014 , this time we fished three days of Pemba Island and one day of Zanzibar.
We started planing this trip with Colin and Les the day we left in December and thankfully all went according to plan with the help of Colin and Les , it was the first time i had stayed at Gamefish Lodge and let me tell you this special , private , place i will not forget we had the whole lodge to ourselves and the accommodation is all and more that one needs it is really comfortable and you can seriously make yourself at home! the food we were served was unbeatable it was just fantastic (see photos i attach).
Back to the fishing , we left on our second day to Pemba and landed our first fish about 20 minutes out of the lodge 22kg and a 37kg Dorado!! this Pemba trip is really special but NOT for people that are physically disadvantaged and is NOT one for folks whom want luxuries this is a true fishing experience were 90% of your time is spent fishing and the rest you will be sleeping!! we did not see another charter boat, ship , etc for 3 days only the local fisherman so this place is unspoilt and is unbelievably beautiful , you will stay on a tiny island with no inhabitants and eat the fish you catch , the fishing was quite tough at times due to the weather and a bit of sea weed in the water but at the end of the day we landed and lost some fantastic TROPHY fish and we caught a variety of species to Dorado, tuna, barracuda, wahoo etc etc and broke the womans record with a 43kg wahoo , the snorkelling is great too! The fishing around Zanzibar can not be compared to Pemba but was still good and we managed to land some fish on the last day thankfully to the knowledge of our skipper(small fish Colin!!)
This is a true fishing safari in some of the best fishing grounds left in the world which gives you a chance to land a true trophy fish!
Thank you once again to Les and Colin for your hospitality and see you again in November for round 3!!
Regards Gareth and Klaudia Roest.
