“Awesome!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 3, 2012

Only stopped at this place as it looked cheap. Best place we stayed on our two week trip, everything felt so clean and homely. The hosts Noeline and Rod were so nice and friendly. Would have loved to stay for longer.

We happened upon the lodge by accident but what a great find!
Rod and Noeline are such friendly, nice people which makes staying at the lodge even more fun. Great value for money, extremely comfortable and clean. Enjoyed drinks and nibbles in the garden, lovely laid back atmosphere, will be back to try out the spa! Will definately recommend this property.

As a traveling triathlete I am always looking for a nice warm quite environment to stay prior to a race. Neoline and Rod score 10 out of 10 with their excellent home from home accommodation. Two nicer people you will never meet, who pride themselves on providing a secure and immaculately clean environment. This is the only place to stay when you come to Wanaka and my family and I highly recommend it. We will be back!

It's all in the title, "this place is awesome".
The hosts Rod & noelene are perhaps the friendliest people I have met in all my travels. The place is always clean and the grounds maintained. After 7 nights it felt like home and I admit I did not want to leave. For me it's not often I will give something 10/10 but it's certainly deserved in this case. Don't look any further if your staying in wanaka.

Room Tip: I was travelling with a lot of gear for a climbing trip and booked a double bed, the room was spacio...

Stayed here in two rooms with 2 teenagers in one and my husband son and I in another, for one night. Small but cosy rooms.
This is lodge accommodation so the bathroom and kitchen are shared and the bedrooms are minimal but more than adequate. The managers are wonderful - very friendly and jolly. Felt like I'd known them for years. This lodge is apparently hard to book into for winter but no probs at all to book the rooms when we were visiting in the spring.
Close enough to walk into town and down to the lake - which we did. Bicycles available to borrow to ride around on but not great quality. If I was to stay longer (which I wish I had because Wanaka is just gorgeous!) I'd rent a bike in town to ride around the lake etc.
There is a computer lounge where you can pay for some internet time.

Altamont is a great place to self-cater and meet interesting people in the large kitchen-dining area or in the lounge where the new woodburner will maintain the atmosphere. No point in blowing the budget when you can enjoy the hospitality here.

Room Tip: Room numbers 3 and above are a bit quieter than 1 and 2. North side sunnier.
