“modern lodge, beautiful hosts”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 17, 2013

Lovely modern lodge located out in the residential area of Wanaka. Stephanie and Denis the owners welcomed us warmly and greeted us with cake, wine and beer. We also had the dinner which was excellently prepared and cooked by Tiff. Rooms had fantastic views and beds where lovely and comfortable. Would highly recommend, especially having the dinner with matching NZ wines. Breakfast and the pre dinner canapes where also excellent.

Tiritiri Lodge is an absolute gem of a place to stay. Dennis, Steph and Tiff are wonderful hosts and I received a very warm welcome accompanied by a lovely cold beer and cake! The Lodge has been stunningly and thoughtfully designed and my room had the most extraordinary view across Wanaka lake. Tiff is a great cook, so opt for an evening meal with them if you can - in fact, insist on an evening meal during your stay! This place is classy and a haven of tranquility. I hugely enjoyed the hospitality and generosity of the owners, who couldn't have been more helpful or entertaining. Don't bother going anywhere else in Wanaka!

Tiritiri Lodge is a beautiful and warm place, and is the most wonderful lodge we've ever stayed. We were appreciated with the warm welcoming of Stephanie, Denis and lovely Frankie, and surprised by Tiffany's food which was really amazing. The room was comfortable and had very beautiful views. We should stay more days next time.

We'd spent 2 nights at Tiritiri Lodge during New Year eve. We were very appreciated with the warm welcoming of the host, Stephanie and Danish. We arrived there in late afternoon and they served us with Asian style finger food which was really good. Though the deluxe room is similar to the hotel's room and you have to share balcony with the other quests cause there are 3 bedrooms in the main building but you can relax in living room and the rest space of the house. We felt homy in Tiritiri Lodge from the hospitality of the owner. They set a beautifully breakfast for my family in the nice sunroom next to the kitchen. Freshly baked macaroon was served for afternoon tea. We decided to have dinner at the lodge on New Year eve since I read that Tiffany is a good chef. And we knew on that day that all the guests ( around 10 ) will have dinner together. The dining table was thoughtfully set up with the names on the table with made us really happy and enjoyed our dinner. Tiffany's food is really good, we loved her poached salmon and beef Wellington, both dishes were cooked at the right temperature and time, probably her salmon was the best in this trip.During midnight, the host asked whether we want to see the fireworks from Wanaka town which she will drive us to the hill along lake Wanaka but due to the strong wind then we chose to stay at the lodge, Danish complimented us by playing his grand piano and sang many beautiful songs, fantastic! We left Wanaka with very happy new year and missed the nice and kind host at Tiritiri Lodge.

Room Tip: Choose suite room for privacy or if you booked 3 rooms in the main building, it's good cause you...

We recently stayed at the Tiritiri Lodge and were very pleasantly surprised. We had arrived after staying at a terrrible "boutique" hotel in Queenstown. Tiritiri is wonderful. The rooms are quiet and beautifully decorated. The owner's art collection adorns the many rooms. The main house where cocktails and dinner are served is modern and comfortable at the same time. The hosts, Stephanie and Denis, are so accomodating. Denis also plays a mean piano! One must be sure to mention the superb meals prepared by Tiffany, the chef. Definitely a place to return.

We had a wonderful one night stay. The room no1 had a small sitting room and a shower and separate bath. There are two houses that guests can stay in. We were the only ones staying so we had the whole building to ourselves. There is a shared sitting room with sky tv, a fridge with complimentary drinks, tea and coffee. The bed was so comfortable. Breakfast was great, yummy pancakes. Couldn't recommend staying here more!

Not often I rate anything "excellent", but Tiritiri is definitely a worthy candidate.

We stayed with our 4 kids during the ski season.

We were looking for something self contained and separate, but fully serviced so that we could dine in if we wanted, and a place that my wife could hang out during the day, since she doesn't ski.s this

Tiritiri is outstanding. It's not quite just a lodge, and not quite a hotel either, so you're able to make it what you want. The owners, Stephanie and Dennis will provide you with as much privacy as you wish for, or can get involved and give you advice on local attractions, wine, local restaurants, and local knowledge. They know the area well, and gave us lot's of useful advice.

Steph's daughter is the in house chef. She trained at Bills in Sydney, and her cooking is superb. Every morning of our 7 day stay was a different creative breakfast. Our 5 year old twins just wanted cornflakes and eggs, and they'll accommodate whatever you want - just speak up!

We didn't realise that the rate included afternoon canapes and drinks. Once we started placing a value on the quality of the breakfasts and all the other little extras that are included, we realized what good value the place was.

The lodge is in excellent condition, and the layout quite clever. It can accommodate families and couples at the same time. Speak to Steph or Dennis about this before you head over if you've got sepecial needs. The furnishings, bedding and finishes are all very high quality and a lot of thought went into the whole set up.

Steph and Dennis are superb hosts, with an integrity, sensitivity and an ability to tune into the needs of their guests (or to tune out if that's what you're looking for!).

I unreservedly recommend this lodge.

Room Tip: All rooms are good, but to get what yo want, pick up the phone and talk to Steph and Dennis personal...

Thanks so much for this review. We designed the lodge to give us flexibility so we its great to see that it worked for you and your family. Guests have different needs for a winter ski holiday so our configuration of 2 separate wings seems to work well. We really appreciate you taking the time to review us.
