Owner description: Stuart Landsborough's Puzzling World is a world-unique attraction with the theme of puzzling eccentricity! Take some amazing photos of our crazy buildings and toilets, our Illusion Rooms must be seen to be believed and the Great Maze, the worlds first 'modern-styled' maze, is a fascinating challenge for the whole family. Operating since 1973, this is a true Kiwi icon suitable for all ages and budgets and is a must-see on any tourist itinerary.

“Puzzling world is EPIC!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 21, 2013

This was really cool we popped here on our was to Queenstown leaving Wanaka. The manager was the Son of the owner who had a good relationship with Kiwi Experience who we were driving with, I think it was roughly $14 plus we got a bacon sandwich thrown in too. The staff are so friendly really nice. The gravity room is awesome mind you don't run too fast and slam in to the walls. The maze and the Roman toilets are funny. Great value for money gift shop and the room is so cool where one side your small and on the other side your freakishly tall. I really enjoyed it as did my partner and I'm 25 and he's 30. Everyone has their photos taken on the leaning tower of Wanaka where time goes backwards instead of forwards. There are puzzles to do in the cafe and clean toilet facilities Fun for all ages!

“A MUST TO EXPERIENCE !”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 17, 2013

This is a quality novelty attraction. You won't have too many experiences like this. Much thought has gone into the displays here, and it has been improved even more over last 4 years or so. The Maze is entertaining ... if not frustrating - but at least there are "emergency" gates where you can bail out if you want to. The Puzzle World part indoors is the star of this complex though. And quality is invested - this is not a shabby tourist trap. Recommend you allow 60-90 minutes here - add extra if you want to eat at the cafe.Cost is $ NZ 35 per adult for the full experience - includes the maze.

Hi Geoff,

Thanks for your superb review!

We certainly never want to appear to be a shabby tourist trap so I'm really pleased you can see the continual investment in the business is worthwhile!

Indeed, a heck of a lot of thought has gone into providing a quirky, unique and fun attraction suitable for all ages, the best news for you is that $35 actually covers 2 x Adults, as $17,.50 is our Combo rate :)

We look forward to seeing you again

Kind regards,

Duncan

“Out dated”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed May 16, 2013

We had doubts about going to this kind of attraction and our doubts were correct. Some interesting things but most of it is dated and not worth the cost.

Hi jerjenne,

Thanks for your review.

I'm not sure what type of attraction you generally go for but if a 3D Maze (our invention), a Puzzle Centre (our invention) and 5 Illusion Rooms (2 of which we also invented) are "outdated" in your eyes I apologise for that. We have just begun a re- furb of our Hologram Hall, Gift Shop and Puzzle Centre, including adding some "cutting edge" holographic technology so we'd love to show you the changes we are continually making to maintain our fresh look.

In terms of pricing, again all the above for $17.50NZ is good value in most peoples opinion but thanks for your feedback

Kind regards,

Duncan Spear

“Fantastic fun for the whole family”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 10, 2013

We came across this amazing attraction whilst on our trip around the South Island. We were travelling with our 10 and 5 year old boys and we both loved it. The illusion rooms are really quite clever and the maze is quite challenging for our family of novices. Once in the maze the whole family became quite competitive and ran off to try and beat each other through. Once out of the maze we had a quick lunch at the onsite cafe and then went thru the illusion rooms. The whole visit/experience was super fun and excellent value for money, we spent well over 2 and 1/2 hours here, wish we could have spent longer but unfortunately we had others waiting for us. I would definitely recommend a visit to this amazing attraction.
