“Quaint and friendly”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 11, 2013

Te Wanaka Lodge was very clean and inviting. Cheryl was an exceptional host (and chef!) and gave great suggestions for our brief and unexpected visit to Wanaka. Rooms were quaint and reminded us of a British B&B. Perfect for a night or two.

Only complaint was that internet wi-fi was difficult to use.

Great to hear you enjoyed your stay at Te Wanaka Lodge. Mum was managing the property while we were on holiday.

I really love this place.. I stayed there on a night before i went skiing in Queenstown and the folks there are really friendly. the rooms are a bit small, but they are clean, and well kept. The breakfast was great, felt like a homely environment and the hosts make you feel at home.

At night, enjoy a quiet book or movie by the fireplace with some nice wine... go in the winter so you can cuddle up in front of the fire.. ooooh...

Warm and cozy common areas welcome you. The breakfast served is wonderful. The rooms are small but crisp and clean. The staff is very attentive, they actually arranged a flight for me to Milford Sound for a day trip.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view of the mountains....breath taking!

Only stayed one night but the bed was comfortable and the bathroom had a powerful shower. Despite being close to the town centre and road the room was quiet. Simply styled rooms with a Scandinavian feel. Nice sitting room area and lovely big dining table to share with guests and lovely breakfast. Lots of nooks and crannies to investigate. Within very easy distance of the town centre and all the bars and restaurants and shops. Wanaka is very much a tourist destination but this was a pleasant surprise.

Room Tip: Enjoy the hot tub

Thank you. Te Wanaka Lodge is lucky to have the option of all the nooks and crannies, where people can enjoy the comforts, with or without guests from the lodge. The convenience of it's location is a bonus.

Stayed here for only one night. The beds are comfortable and the heater worked well given we arrived the first day snow fell for year 2013. There is a nice living area to hang and the only place you can get wi-fi. Location is great as it is close to all the restaurants and you walk past a creek on your way there. Breakfast is shared in one long table with other guests which gives you an opportunity to talk to all the other travellers. Enjoyed the pancakes that Cheryl prepared. Wished we stayed longer and did more stuff but time was not on our side.

We are very lucky to have Cheryl on board with the great breakfasts and stories to match. The location is great being so close to town without being in te heart of everything. Maybe next time, Te Wanaka Lodge can keep you a little longer.

Wayne

Convenient to the town centre, with a nice garden feel. The owner, Wayne, was very friendly and helpful.
Free hot drinks always available in two comfortable guest lounges, also cake in the afternoon! We particularly enjoyed the very good breakfast around one large sociable table.
There was a nice wooden hot tub in the garden.
The bed was very comfortable, and although the room was quite small, there were thoughtful touches such as a night light in the bathroom, robes for the hot tub, etc.
Wifi was free, with a good signal in the lounges.

My wife and I spent four nights at Te Wanaka in February. Despite being full for most of our stay the Lodge continued to function smoothly. Wayne is a good host. Tea, coffee and the daily papers being readily available add a nice touch. Breakfast is good. Beds comfortable and all areas clean.

Room Tip: Some rooms are close to a noisy road.
