“Our best stay in NZ”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 17, 2014

We spent two nights at Ian and Yvette's B&B arriving on New Year's eve. It started with a nice reception and chat at arrival; we felt that Ian and Yvette are doing all they can to make our stay as enjoyalble as possible.
The room was specious, spotless, very nicely decorated - simply indulging. The breakfast was very rich and delicious. Ian and Yvette were very friendly, e.g. at the end of a long hiking day we were greeted by a glass of wine and local cherries (excellent!) in the beautiful garden. Also, they gave us great recommendations about places to visit and do (especially memorable is the "Wild Earth" wine tasting special lunch).
Overall, we spent 30 days in NZ, stayed in over 20 different accommodations and we rank Wanaka Alpine Lodge as the top stay.
We highly recommend it!

My partner and I spent 2 nights at Wanaka Alpine Lodge in early January this year. Our room was clean and spacious and tastefully decorated. We had a car spot right outside the room and amazing views of the gardens. The lodge has a hot tub which we unfortunately didn't have time to use. Ian & Yvette really made our whole holiday though...they welcomed us like family members when we arrived, we were invited to have wine with them each evening, breakfast was fresh cooked to order (banana pancakes with bacon - AMAZING!) and they were so passionate about the area, making sure we made the most of our short time in Wanaka. We hope to return soon. Thank you Ian & Yvette!

We stayed for 2 nights.
At first glance, we thought it was cute - but it seemed a bit dated. Almost like staying at our grandparents house. It's essentially a house with rooms connecting to a main hallway.
What we liked: awesome customer service - Ian and Yvette are really helpful, breakfast was delicious, the bed is really comfy, spa & free bike hire.
How it could improve: We felt that we didn't have the freedom to truly relax, as we always had to ask for things. The rooms could do with proper amenities, fridge, crokery, cutlery, etc. A key to sliding door that leads outside would also provide more privacy (as going through the house was annoying).
Overall: Really like Ian and Yvette , but we honestly felt like we were staying at our grandparents house (and we are both 34 & 39 ourselves, so it's not like we're spring chicks). Would definitely recommend to 'mature' couples.

We stayed at this lodge for a night and can only say that it has exceeded our expectations in all areas. Clean spacious rooms and comfortable beds. Ian and Yvette were very helpful and friendly and the breakfast was superb. We really enjoyed trying local wines with Ian and Yvette in the evening, prior to heading out into Wanaka for Dinner. The stay was peaceful and no noise from other venues close by (we had experienced this the night before staying in the heart of Wanaka). We plan to stay again. Thanks for a wonderful end to our holiday.

My husband and one year old child stayed here for a couple of nights over New Years. The service was exceptional... everything was great from the rooms right through to the yummy breakfasts each morning. Highly recommend to everyone looking for somewhere to stay in Wanaka:) Thanks for a memorable stay.

From when we awoke in our very comfortable bed ready for Ian's wonderful breakfast to being Chauffeur driven home after Dinner at a Restaurant in Town, our Wedding accommodation was perfect. Ian & Yvette made us feel totally spoilt and nothing was too much trouble. Ian even took my future Husband to the Pub to get him out of the way while I was having my Wedding make up done... They were fantastic hosts and we would highly recommend the Wanaka Alpine Lodge for any future wedding couples - one of the highlights of our day was being collected by our Helicopter "taxi" from their back garden to take us up the Mountain !!!
