“A cosy haven from the inclement weather”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 5, 2009

My friend and I stayed with Jo and Ian for 2 nights while we were in Wanaka and had a lovely time. We had stayed the night before in a backpackers and had not been able to sleep, so finding Harpers with its quiet and friendly atmosphere, warm and comfortable beds, and excellent breakfast was a pleasant surprise! We were also unfortunate in that there was terrible weather while we were in Wanaka, but Jo and Ian's place was the best place to be to relax, stay warm, shelter from the rain, and drink lots of tea! They also gave us helpful advice regarding activities in Wanaka and for our trip to the west coast. Both Jo and Ian were lovely and made us feel right at home.

We do appreciate you posting such a positive review. We enjoyed your company and are delighted that you felt so comfortable. Wanaka is such a lovely place in good weather. A pity it wasn't like that for your stay. Do come back again in the future. Best regards Jo and Ian

My partner and I stayed with Jo and Ian for 1 night, and it really was like we were dropping in on relatives, they are so warm and chatty. Breakfast was plentiful, as was the conversation around the dining table. Jo and Ian are well travelled, and armed with many stories, all of which you want from great hosts.
The room contained fresh water and glasses, electric blankets, a huge bed and many pillows. There's a heater in the bathroom, along with all the utilities you need.
The location is just up the road from the main centre; you could walk it in warmer times, but its only a short drive with a car. Not hard to find at all.

My new (!) husband and I traveled to Wanaka for part of our honeymoon and stayed with Jo and Ian. The only bad thing we have to say about it is that we only stayed one night--we wish we could have stayed longer! They are the nicest people and were full of great ideas and helpful tips for our travels. The location of their b&b is great (extremely close to "downtown" Wanaka) and the breakfast and conversations were amazing. We sincerely hope we get back to Wanaka one day, we will definitely stay at Harpers.

My daughter and I stayed with Jo and Ian, and had a blast. They helped make our stay special. Very nice and warm people. Ian had me laughing the whole time I was there (2 nights). Jo asked us where we were heading after we left Harpers, and gave us a page of cool stops along the way. That was really handy. In fact , I wish she would publish them. We miss you, but will return. Jamie and Susannah, CHEERS!!!

We spent just one night at Harpers with Jo and Ian and wished we could have stayed longer. We were amazed by the natural beauty of Wanaka, not to mention Jo's gardens! This was the first B&B my husband and I had ever stayed at and I think we've been spoiled. Jo and Ian were so welcoming and knowledgable on the area. Our room had a terrific view and an en suite bathroom. Jo is also quite a good cook and introduced us to Marmite and yogurt from a dry mix! After eating dinner at Finchey's on their recommendation, Ian invited us to watch rugby with him their living room. We had a fantastic time without complaints and will definitely be back soon.

This is my home away from home. I have stayed many times with Jo and Ian and enjoyed their company every time. They are wonderful hosts and spoil their guests
with home baked goodies and a delicious breakfast.
In my opinion this is the very best place to stay in Wanaka!
