“Honest and friendly”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 14, 2013

Natural friendliness and cossy comfort - what more could one ask in a B&B? Tranquilty, good view and garden setting? Yep - got that too. Jo and Ian have that indefinable quality of being "good people" and their advice was spot on.

We really enjoyed our stay at Jo and Ian's B&B. Unfortunately it was only for one night, but there are many reasons to go back:
a very warm welcome with tea and homemade cake
spacious room with a stunning views
clean and comfortable
fantastic breakfast with pancakes, fresh fruit, homemade bread and marmalade
and Jo and Ian are lovely people, great hosts and a lot of knowledge of the area.
Thank you again for your hospitality and we'll be back.

Stunning views from our balcony, Joe's pankakes for breakfast and rejuvenating spring water from Ian's fountain. Thank you also for sending us on the Rob Roy glacier walk, one of the highligts of our NZ holiday.

Thank you for taking the time to post a review. We enjoyed your company and consider the Rob Roy Glacier walk as one of the 'must do's' while staying in our town.

We really enjoyed our stayed with Jo & Ian and disappointed when they were sold out the second night and we couldn't stay there more time! They are lovely people, very helpful, and interesting to talk to. Jo makes a great breakfast and Ian is great at explaining rugby and cricket rules! The beds are very comfortable, there is plenty of space and it's very clean. Definitely the place to stay in Wanaka!

We spend 3 nights in Harpers B&B and had a wonderfull time. Jo and Ian are excellent hosts, they know a lot about Wanaka, hiking, dining and all kind of activities in the area. They are really concerned about your wellbeeing. Every afternoon they offer a warm welcome with tea and Jo's famous muffins. The breakfast is delicious( try the pancakes! ) and also a nice opportunity to hear a part of their lifestory and meet other guests.

We received a very warm welcome on arrival with excellent home baking.
Our bedroom was on the first floor which opened out on to the lounge and veranda.
Plenty of space, good bed.
The views down to the lake were outstanding with a lovely garden, with stream, to wander round. Wild blackberries ( brambles to us Scots) in the driveway were an extra bonus!

Good breakfast with plenty of choice.

Ian & Jo know the area and were very willing to assist in planning your time.

Our one regret was that we had only the one night with the Harpers.

Try and ensure you have longer, say three nights.

Room Tip: Try for bedroom upstairs with view of the Lake

Thank you for your complimentary review. We also think Wanaka deserves more than one nights stay - there are so many walks and activities available here.

This was the best & most beautiful B&B I have stayed in with the finest views. Wanaka at it's best and wish we could have stayed longer. Ian & Jo have got it right; friendly, experienced, knowledgable, with a great set up for guests. The garden is beautiful with the spring fed clear water in the pond - I am jealous as I wish I could make a garden like that. Well done to you both for your B&B.
