“Choose your room carefully.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 3, 2012 via mobile

We stayed 2 nights and the 3 rating is a bit misleading - we would rate the first night 1-2 and the second night 4-5. The first night (room 401) our bay view was obstructed by an ugly building, we waited way too long for room service and the sheets were old, but the main problem was that our room's position at the top of the stairs and the hard surface of the corridors and floors meant the noise from other guests was unbearable and we hardly slept at all. To the staff's credit, it was not a big drama for us to be moved the next morning. The view from the new room (409) was lovely and the linen much newer. The pool area is quite good and the food excellent. It's a 10-minute taxi ride costing $5 US into town. The hotel shuttle is not terribly regular and only stops at one place, so we found taxis more convenient. We would stay here again but would specifically request a room far away from the stairs.

This hotel was such a hidden pleasure. Out of the main hustle and bustle of the Fijian Cities. Unlike the other resorts, very laid back and quiet. On Suva Bay so you get great still water views from most rooms (request it) and the restaurant, bar and pool all have views too. The staff were great and very professional. I would recommend this to any traveller needing some time-out from the usual Fijian experience. I stay there every time now, as my husband is Fijian, we visit 2-3 times a year. It really is a nice quiet spot and not as expensive as everywhere else.

Room Tip: Ask for a view of Suva Bay.

My partner and i travelled to Suva for the weekend and booked in at Novotel Suva, firstly while booking we were informed that we could check in at midday however at arriving at the Hotel from a approximate 3 hour drive we were asked to wait as our room was not ready.

When booking we had requested for a room facing the water but when at checkin we were informed that we were booked on the garden view room, considering that we had not made any other bookings and that most Hotels were occupied we agreed for this.

When we checked into the room we noted the following;
- Very bad odor and seemed like the room was not cleaned properly
- The room itself was in a rundown condition
- A dinosaur aged egghead television with no remote to control channels with
- The view onto the garden was terrible if a garden is what you would call it
- The back door facing the garden had the locks broken and was held together with a makeshift lock

We booked out of the Hotel the next morning and moved to another Hotel as we felt unsafe and it didn't seem like a room we wanted to be in. I would definitely not recommend this Hotel to anyone who is traveling with a partner or family....probably suits more for single travelers.

We stayed here in January 2012 and have already decided to stay here again in January 2013. We had a very pleasent stay. The staff were very friendly and the band boys added to a lovely atmosphere at night. The rooms were nice and clean. There is wifi in the common area that worked well enough for our needs. The restaurant food is nice but slighly overpriced for Fiji, the breakfast buffet is great. This hotel's location sets it apart from others in Suva as it is 15 minutes out of the city and set on a lovely outlook over the bay. It is peaceful and refreshing. If you are venturing out of the touristy areas of Fiji (Coral coast and islands) and wanting to visit Suva then this hotel tick's all the boxes. We are very much looking forward to coming back in January.

Room Tip: We stayed in a garden view room - it was fine. Next time though we are going to stay in a bay view...

Stayed 4 nights at the Novotel Lami last week - part of a business trip to Fiji. Last visit to the Hotel was years ago. A fantastic transformation. The rooms are excellent, the views some of the best on the mainland, and a great relaxing open lobby and restaraunt area.
After a few meetings in Suva spent most of my remaining time working in the lobby area. Free wifii in the lobby area and free internet in your rooms if you sign up with their free loyalty program.
The occasional excellent coffee or cold beer, cooling breeze coming from the Bay of Islands - what an office!
There were a couple of Bollywood stars and film crew staying at the hotel which added a bit of interest to my stay.
Suva centre is a F$9 taxi ride or F$2 bus ride away.
Compared to other hotels in Suva it is not expensive (Holiday Inn was over AUD$230 per night). At the Novotel I booked on Wotif.com just 3 days before my trip and my average daily rate was 90 to 100 AUD$. Whilst at the hotel I extended my stay by 1 night and the receptionist told me to book again on Wotif as the hotel could not match the Wotif rates.
The food was good and again not expensive for that class of hotel when you convert from F$.
Most evening meals were in the F$25 to F$35 range which is AUD$14 to AUD$20.

My second trip to Suva. Found this hotel on an internet search. "Lami Bay". About 50 feet from my window. Watched the fish feeding in the bay while I had dinner.

Room Tip: be sure to get a room on the Bay side.

Been a Le Club Gold Level, I'm looking forward for some priviliges.
But I can comment that I did not receive any good deal staying there if there any.

Room is clean but food is extermely expensive.
No complimentry water. ( Hello, everybody need to drink)
Found a tiny crochroach inside the kettle. (Turn Off)

My New Zealander counterpart receive the free wifi log in from the hotel lobby.
When i ask for it, I was told I need to pay.
Once again Le Club Gold need to pay, New Zealander do not need to pay.
Disappointing.
