“Should have stayed an extra night”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 10, 2014

Stayed here for one night before heading out to the islands. Check-in was quick and efficient and typical of our whole Fiji experience all the staff were incredibly friendly. Due to timing didn't make use of most facilities but the pools were good. Plenty of free sun loungers and pool side delivery of Fiji Gold was appreciated! They also have an adult only pool section.

Room was spacious and the deck was effectively beach front. All the amenities and high quality finish you would expect in this price bracket.

Wifi was chargeable - at this price point in these modern times I always expect at least a nominal free data allowance but then again I am in Fiji and don't particularly want to feel "connected".

Being Denarau Island the beach is poor, although the Hilton benefits from having a long quiet stretch.

Shops on site were useful and not as marked up as I thought (you could buy a 750ml Fiji Gold beer for around FJ$6 compared to the bar charging FJ$9 for a 330ml Fiji Gold). The coffee shop did good coffee and limited breakfast range which was handy to grab before an early transfer to the islands. I also noted it sold fresh meat, which would be beneficial to those who had a BBQ on the deck of their room.

Can't really add much more due to short time of stay (less than 24 hours) but would stay here again particularly at the price compared to local competitors.

We spent 5 nights at this hotel before going on the Blue Lagoon Cruise on the Fiji Princess, and took advantage of their "stay 5, pay for 4 nights" special. First impression was the reception area which is less impressive than most similar hotels, but the check-in process was quick and friendly. There is a F$500 deposit, which is used on check-out to set off charges incurred during the stay. We were driven to our room by buggy after a short introduction to the resort on the way. We had the standard Beachfront Studio room. Even though our room No. 2815 wasn’t too far from the central restaurant and pool area, we were often able to “catch a ride” on one of the passing buggies. Our room was large and very attractive, with a small balcony overlooking the garden and beach. The aircon functioned very well and helped to cool down from the excessive heat! The bathroom is open plan from the bedroom, with a bath and separate shower and toilet. We found the bathroom a little impractical as it was difficult to hang up the towels on the rack on the other side of the bath, and there is just one sliding door covering both the toilet and the shower! But the toiletries were good, the bed very comfy, there is a flat screen TV and Tea & Coffee making facilities, as well as a small fridge, which we used mainly to cool water, but also stocked it with some beer from the general store (NB the liquor wholesaler next door charged more for the beer than the general store!)

The Maravu Restaurant was in the process of being renovated, but the Nuku Restaurant offered all meals. The breakfast, which was included in our room cost, had everything on offer, but we ere disappointed that it wasn’t displayed in the typical tropical breakfast buffet style which we are used to from resorts in eg Mauritius and Bali. Lunch and dinner were very expensive and we made good use of L’Epicier, the coffee and sandwich bar for snack meals, which were excellent. We made use of the Bula Bus which stopped at the door every 15 minutes or so, and charged F$8 per person for a whole day to hop on and off anywhere on the circuit between the hotel and Port Denarau, where there is a variety of eating places to choose from, at very reasonable prices. Drinks were also expensive, but poolside service is good and offers lower prices from 11.00 to 15.00 hrs., and the Nuku Bar has Happy Hour from 17.30 to 18.30, with 2-for-one drinks, including cocktails. Unfortunately the seating at the bar is hopelessly inadequate for enjoying the lovely sunset. The pools are beautifully maintained and crystal clear, although very warm, which didn’t help to cool down from the heat and humidity, but swimming from the beach is not an option, as the sand is dark and the water looks dirty! We especially loved the peace and quiet at the adults only pool.

Disappointing, especially in this day and age, was the free WiFi, which was very weak and even where the signal was slightly stronger, i.e. at the Nuku bar and at the coffee shop, it frequently cut out – surely this can be improved on? The lady at the tour desk was helpful and arranged a day tour of the Nadi area for us. Generally the staff was exceptionally friendly and their constant “Bulas” seemed really sincere!

This resort is fabulous, the staff are the ultimate in friendly (special mention of concierge Moli & Una in the adults breakfast restaurant). The Hilton is spread across a long frontage which means there is always a private space to find & you never feel crowded. The adults pool are was brilliant & the adults only breakfast is amazing. We ate here, and at the Marina, prices similar to Aust & quality always good. Love the Bula Bus!! The rooms are well laid out, beds comfortable, even a turn down service. We visited other resorts & while a couple were more flashy they were not as spacious or as openly friendly. The Spa is overpriced, the treatments are lovely but....... This resort is highly recommended if you are looking for a break from reality, with or without kids.

we stayed in a one bedroom beach front villa, very spacious rooms with our own balcony. Kitchen included a nice size fridge, stove top, dishwasher, expresso maker and a washer dryer....which came in very handy after 10 days of travel. Our very first dinner experience was amazing...Asi waited on us and took Excellent care of us. The dinning manager Vera went above and beyond to correct a botched dinner reservation made by our travel agent.....no reflection on the Hotel but Vera took quick action.....GIve that women a raise! The wait staff sang a beautiful farewell song, with smiles and hugs to follow. The food was fantastic!Food and drinks at this hotel are very reasonable priced. The adult only pool was put to very good use....every hotel should offer them.

We overnighted in this resort on our was out to an island.
Unfortunately we arrived at night and when the reception area resembled a bomb site more than the front of a nice hotel.-Yep our timing was bad.-The reception was being renovated.
Trying to check in with the strong odor of floor varnish hanging in the air was a very unpleasant and I feel dangerous experience.(I've worked with these products and safety instructions weren't even vaguely being followed)
There was also confusion with the bedding arangements. No cot supplied for our child and there were two single beds in the second room not a double--Normally you just shrug at that and the staff easilly sort it out. THIS time the cot never diod arrive and it took almost two hours and several calls and still no resolution--It took a call from a staff member before the bed was made up.
Unfortunately our air conditioning was broken and when we asked for it to be fixed we waited for well over an hour for a repair man to turn up When he did arive the repair man made it very clear the AC worked perfectly and we weren't "doing it right" --This without getting out of his golf cart.-NO the ac did NOT work.
The beds were comfortable the room well located.close to reception.
The veiw in the morning was stunning. -looking out into the pacific ocean.
I was really suprised to find a sandy beach on Denerau and it wasn't a bad beach either.
Heck I WANTED to love the place.
Despite the hassles we would like to come back and give the resort a fair apraisal because most were one off issues caused by renovations.

Room Tip: ask to be close to reception.

Bula kazbanz,
Thank you very much for your review. I am very concerned by your experience at the resort, as it is certainly not a reflection of our usual high standards of service and quality. Yes, the reception area went through a soft refurbishment (now completed), but we make a point of meeting guest expectations upon arrival (providing we were informed of the requests) and obviously during the stay. The AC switches off after a few moments when the sliding doors are kept open, and it could be what took place in your room – I am sorry that you have not been informed accordingly and in a more appropriate manner.
I do hope that you will be coming back soon, so that you may experience the very high levels of quality and service that our guests enjoy on a daily basis.

We recently stayed in a one bedroom apartment at the Hilton and had a very relaxing stay. The room was spacious and comfortable and had everything we needed. The room was on the ground floor so we only needed to walk a short distance from the apartment lounge to be on the beach. The staff are always very friendly and we often hitched a lift on a golf buggy. The resort grounds are maintained to a high standard. The downsides were that all of the one bedroom apartments have an interconnecting room. We were very lucky that nobody stayed in the room next to us as I would imagine that noise would travel between the rooms. I would also recommend that you close the blind by the shower room as the frosted glass only goes so far down. We mainly ate in the adults only restaurant for breakfast which becomes an Asian restaurant in the evening for all. The food was very good and was very popular of an evening. We did dine in the main restaurant a couple of times but did come across a couple of hitches eg my wife ordered a salmon ceasar salad which arrived firstly without the salmon and secondly then without the anchovies. Was really good to have free wifi in the cafe and around the pool. We also took daily advantage of the free Kayak's and paddleboards that were available. All in all, a very relaxing stay and would return.

We stayed 3 nights in the Fiji beach resort after 4 nights at the Sheraton & we both feel the Hilton was 100% better. More, healthier & cheaper food options. Friendlier staff. Highly recommend the private beach dinner & the in room BBQ. Couldn't be happier with our stay.
