“Lovely holiday at Terrace Apartments, Denarau”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 25, 2012

Really enjoyed our stay at the Terrace Apartments. It is a lot quieter than the other resorts at Denarau (Hilton, Raddison, etc). We found the restaurants at the Port (three minutes walk away) excellent, although shopping in Nadi is cheaper. Loved having air con in the lounge and bedroom as we slept with it on every evening. Really enjoyed the pool complex. Our rooms were always well cleaned. The Bula bus is far too expensive at $7 each per day as we only used it once a day on two occasions - a one off price would be far better. The West bus to town at $1 per trip is fantastic and if you could hook in to it to go down to the other Denarau resorts and back it would be great. Would visit Fiji earlier in the year (April to August) as the weather was getting too humid for us. Our only complaint was that the timer on the clothes drier did not work and this could be a fire haszard. Pam and Graeme

Room Tip: We loved being on the ground floor opposite the pool (room 111) as it is handy to the office, drivew...

Stayed 5 nights, awesome accommadation. Everything was so clean. Beds very comfortable, even the single ones. We stayed in a 2 brm, 2 ensuite, 3 toilets. Also has washing machine and dryer in appt, so great to get all the washing done before you leave. Very roomy and has everything you cold need. The staff were friendly and with denarau wharf right accross the road, everything was handy. If you wanted to go to Nadi main street you can get the west bus from denarau to nadi and back for $1fj each way, it comes every 6 minutes. The pool isn't the biggest on Denarau but it does the job. Very relaxing and quiet. Will be going again for sure.

Room Tip: Stayed in 202, was great. couldn't fault it.

We just spent 7 nights at The Terraces and had a wonderful time. We travelled with our 18mth old and found it an ideal property for her. Enough space to run around (we had a ground floor apartment), cooking facilites were useful, quiet, very friendly and helpful staff, the pool ideal and we really appreciated the babysitting service..the ladies were lovely and did a wonderful job.
Great location..1min walk to shops, restaurants and marina.
The cafe on site was basic but more than suitable for a light lunch and/or a wee beverage : )
The accommodation was spacious (we had a 2 bedroom apartment). The only negative was that sometimes if felt like "elephants" were in the upstairs apartment.
we would defiantely go back again

Room Tip: downstairs apartments have great space but go straight out to garden and pool area, so if you have a...

Stayed 6 nights, second time we have stayed here. Find the apartments spacious and comfortable. Every thing you need for self catering. There are always loungers available around the, not like some other resorts on Denarau.
Good little bar at pool and happy hour at right time of day, maybe lunch menu could have a little more variety.Nice peacefully setting over looking the 3rd hole on the golf course.
Staff friendly as usual for Fiji.
Overall a great small resort if you don't won't a crowded breakfast buffet..
Would stay again and recommend.
Also close to restaurants at the mariner, much cheaper than the resorts. Try Bone Fish at the mariner, very good..

Room Tip: Two bed ideal if traveling with children no hassles with the old rollaway... Good if you want a qui...

These apartments suited our needs perfectly, apart from being alot cheaper than any of the resorts in Port Denarau. The apartments are well appointed, spacious, with great view onto the Port Denarau golf course and the Terraces pool, The best part is they are 5 minutes (max) walk from the marina (all paved) and Port Denarau shops. The marina allows you to go on tours out to the Yasawa or Mamanuca islands. The Yasawa islands have better snorkelling but are not as developed as the Mamanucas. I prefer the Yasawas, but it does take longer by boat to get to them for day trips. Day trips to both sets of islands are very efficiently serviced by Awesome Adventures. There are also day trips inland that you can do (see below).

We stayed on the Yasawa islands for 2 weeks and had had our meals cooked and been entertained by the culture, snorkelling, fishing, hiking. We did not need the pampering of the standard Port Denarau resort hotels, though the apartments are serviced daily. We did not need the beach (there is only a pool at the Terraces). The beach in Port Denarau is sandy but the water is murky/muddy. You need to catch a boat to a reef if you want to snorkel.

There was no phone reception on either island we stayed at. The Terraces has free Wifi and Foxtel premium TV. Wifi was sometimes intermittent. We needed to catch up with emails, news, washing and give the teenagers sleep days with no activity while we explored the craft shops. Only complaint about the Terraces, is the sofa suite was the most uncomfortable suite I have ever sat in.

Ground coffee, tea, 200ml milk, dishwashing detergent, are supplied. There is a microwave, cooktop, kettle, 6 of: cups, mugs, cutlery and plates. Laundry powder was not supplied. Washing machine and drier were in good order with instructions on use in the apartment manual. There is a book swap bookcase at the 24hr reception. They also have a tour organiser and are an AVIS dealer. There is a supermarket in the shopping mall (5minutes away) with most things you need - prices are reasonable. There are two supermarkets on the main street in Nadi.

Getting around Port Denarau. There is the Bula bus (open sides) which takes you around Port Denarau only- a waste of money FJ$7pp. There is the local bus (20seater normal bus) used by the workers. This is a well maintained bus and will take you around Port Denarau and to Nadi FJ$1pp. A taxi fare to Nadi ranges from FJ$10-15. A taxi to Lautoka (largest city) is FJ$50-60. An interesting experience. There is a food market but little in the way of craft shops. You can hire the taxi to also take you to the Sleeping Giant (orchid garden - very pretty 1-1.5hr visit about FJ$45 for family includes cool juice at end of visit) or the Mud Pools/Spa. Taxi with 3-4 people would be cheaper than a tour.

The Port Denarau Golf course is long and flat with lots of sand and water obstacles. There were alot of people using it. There is also a golf course in Nadi. A world class golf course is located in Natadolo which is about 1hr south (Taxi about FJ$150 each way).

There is a craft market in Nadi - I bought from them and from the street shops. I had no trouble bringing things into Australia from either source - but make sure you declare them. Make sure wooden items are hard wood (heavy) and have a "treated" or Fiji silver sticker and receipt of purchase. There are also several shops. Prices are cheaper and negotiable at the market and shops than at Port Denarau. Shops are Fijian, Indian and overseas owned. Most give you the story "money will go back to the community", judge for yourself. Some give you a full Kava welcome.

Another excursion that you may want to consider is the White water rafting run by Rivers Fiji. This rafting is on the Navua River (2.5hours south) and goes through beautiful gorges and tropical rainforest. The trip down to and from the rafting is long if you go from Port Denarau. On the way down it is daylight and you get a good view of the scenery and the coral coast. See my review on Rivers Fiji. We enjoyed it.

Hiring cars is reasonably priced about FJ$140 per day fully insured for basic car, but there are no street lights so be back before sunset. Lots of pot holes. Reviews say drives north to Ba are very beautiful, and you can visit the national park Koroyanitu (near Lautoka).

Despite the excellent accommodations at the Terraces, I would only stay 4 nights max at Port Denarau unless you were using it to visit the islands as well. It is however better to spend at least 2 nights on an island (Saturdays overnights are good as they usually include a Meke show) rather than day trips.

Stayed 7 nights and can confirm other positive reviews. We were in a one bedroom apartment and can't really understand a previous reviewer stating the apartments are quite small - unless they vary one to another. Having stayed in numerous apartments we would have described it as reasonably large and well equipped.

One disappointing aspect relates to the spa treatment "tent". I assume this is a franchise arrangement and is not actually owned by the resort. The tent was tacky in appearance and located right near the pool. Mildew clearly in evidence. Poor value for money according to my wife who had a deluxe facial. Minimal product used and even that, applied with a mixture of water.

Room Tip: If you are a light sleeper, endeavour to get a room where there is a vacant apartment above. Littl...

We stayed 2 nights at the Terraces prior to heading out to Castaway Island. I highly recommend The Terraces! We had a 2 bedroom apartment, which was large, clean, spacious & had everything we needed. The staff were friendly & very helpful. The Terraces was a nice quieter option for our stay, as we visited the other resorts & they were packed. The accommodation was fantastic & great value for money, without the expensive resort prices. The location was brilliant, as the Port / Marina was straight across the road, which was great for shopping, meals, supplies & access to the island boat transfers. Thank you The Terraces for a wonderful stay :)
